Job Description:The CV Invasive Specialist II performs duties necessary for catheterization procedures at a technical and professional level requiring minimal supervision of technical detail. The Specialist II performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment. The CV Invasive Specialist II assumes responsibility and initiative for designated areas and procedures as required. Follows Alliance of Cardiovascular Professionals (ACVP) scope of practice or for Electrophysiology the NASPE Standards of Professional Practice for the Allied Professional in Pacing and Electrophysiology. An RN will be present to supervise the care of patients during moderate sedation.RCIS or RCES is required to pass medications.Essential FunctionsPerform all of the duties of the CV Invasive Specialist I.Has a thorough knowledge of invasive diagnostic and interventional supplies, appropriate indications and applications, and proper use and deployment techniques.Prepare for patient status changes related to procedural events. Take immediate and appropriate action when status changes occur.Orient new CVIS I staff; teach, coach, mentor, and provide direct supervision as a defined preceptor.Provide staff education in Skills Day Workshops.Train staff (e.g., using specialized equipment, improving procedural techniques).SkillsInstructional Design and DeliveryPatient Assessment and MonitoringProcedural AssistanceEquipment Operation and TroubleshootingCritical ThinkingTaking InitiativeCardiopulmonary PathophysiologyCommunication and CollaborationMentorshipClinical Care SkillsQualificationsMinimum QualificationsBasic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.- and –PALS certification for children’s hospitals or ACLS certification for adult. New hires must obtain within 6 months of start.- and –Two years of Invasive Cardiovascular Technology or Electrophysiology experience (not including academic training or CVIS training).- and –Bachelor's degree in health science program. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.- or –Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or Nursing program- or –currently registered as a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or passage of the CEPS exam (EP only).- or –graduate of an accredited diploma or associate program in health science- and –Demonstrated proficiency in all CVIS I job duties without supervision.- and –Demonstrated expertise in performing complex diagnostic and advanced interventional procedures or demonstrated understanding and proficiency in correlation with years of experience with regards to electrophysiology procedures.- and –Maintains at least 20 hours of continuing medical education (CME) credits per year.- and –Maintains at least 20 hours continuing medical education credits per year- and –Must be competent in basic coronary intervention (have completed skills pass off).Physical RequirementsOngoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.Location:Intermountain Health St George Regional HospitalWork City:St GeorgeWork State:UtahScheduled Weekly Hours:40The hourly range for this position is listed below.
