Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures, view a computer screen, extensive reading Performs basic design work and calculations. Performs field work; uses automated systems. Design activity is overseen by a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details. Transport Engineer Tech I Essential Duties Performs basic design work Prepares field notes. Prepares quantity summaries, hydraulic and utility studies and right-of-way maps. Prepares roadway design. traffic control, lighting, signal, and building plans Performs other Job responsibilities as assigned. Transport Engineer Tech II (including Transport Engineer Tech I) Essential Duties Performs advanced drafting and calculations in support of design activities, develops graphic presentations that include distinctive design features. Performs intermediate design work Prepares environmental documents Reviews entire sets of plans for format, drafting and calculation errors and correlation of plans and specifications. Schedules, coordinates, and prepares documents for public hearings Writes general notes, specifications and provisions Minimum Qualifications Education High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies. Experience Transport Engineer Tech I: No experience required. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related College education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications Transport Engineer Tech II: 2 YEARS Drafting, design, plan preparation (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent) Licenses and Certifications Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle. Mandatory: Safety Impact Certificate Transport Engineer Tech I Competencies Basic roadway design Applicable engineering workstations and applications to support efficient planning and design activities Applicable surveying procedures, standards, and instruments Building construction and contractor field procedures Writing and revising standards and procedures Performing basic design and drafting Training In a classroom, office. or field environment Using computers, applicable programs. applications, and systems Follow verbal and written instructions Transport Engineer Tech II (including Transport Engineer Tech I) Competencies Intermediate design and hand and computer-aided drafting procedures Applicable engineering workstations and applications to support efficient planning and design activities Applicable surveying procedures, standards, and instruments Performing intermediate drafting Writing and revising standards and procedures Training in a classroom, office, or field environment Using computers, applicable programs, applications, and systems Follow verbal and written instructions Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs. at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs. Required to work weekends and holidays. Required to work hours other than 8 to 5. Required to work under exposure to inclement weather conditions. Required to wear personal protective equipment provided by employer and comply with all safety requirements. Employee may be contacted during off-duty hours to see if he or she can report to work for emergency conditions. Must pass a drug test prior to employment for safety impact positions. This is a Safety Impact position and will be subject to random drug testing. Washington Street, Stephenville, TX 76401 Salary/Plan Group Transportation Engineer I: (A16) $40,918 - $61,130 Transportation Engineer II: (A18) $45,521 - $71,055 This position is for 2 (two) Transportation Engineer I or II.
