Lead Compensation Consultant

About the Role The role sits within the Global Compensation team, which functions as the go-to-market arm of Compensation and advises a subset of business functions. It reports directly to the Director of Compensation Consulting and works alongside the Global Compensation team, business-facing HR Partners, extended HR teams and business Executives to provide comprehensive advising support for Nike's compensation programmes. The role suits someone who enjoys solving complex problems, navigating ambiguity and helping leaders make informed decisions by understanding business context, evaluating competing priorities and building clear recommendations. Success depends on influencing decisions through expertise and strong relationships rather than applying compensation rules in a vacuum. Key Responsibilities Build strategic relationships with business-facing HR Partners, Talent Acquisition and business leaders. Serve as a trusted specialist and adviser for compensation initiatives, programmes and processes across assigned business functions. Develop thoughtful recommendations on complex compensation matters and provide guidance where decisions are challenging or viewpoints differ. Apply compensation programmes consistently while accounting for business context. Navigate escalated issues confidently and independently, using sound judgement to move work forward when not all information is immediately available. Partner with stakeholders whose priorities and perspectives may differ, helping align teams toward shared goals. Influence decisions and outcomes through credibility, expertise, communication and partnership. Provide feedback from partners on the effectiveness of compensation initiatives, programmes, processes, tools, readiness and the HR operating model. Contribute positively to team culture and help others succeed. Be accountable for projects or programmes with manageable risks and resource requirements. Required Experience & Qualifications A minimum of six years' demonstrable experience in compensation, including programme design, market surveys, compensation operations and business advising. Bachelor's degree in a closely related field; any suitable combination of education, experience and training will be accepted. Practical experience communicating with partners outside the compensation function to explain difficult issues, build consensus and influence programmes and processes. Able to act as leader for colleagues with less experience, and may coordinate the work of other staff members when needed. Capable of making decisions within guidelines and policies, with an understanding of how the business experiences compensation programmes and good judgement when reviewing exceptions. Expected to impact a range of standard and non-standard customer, operational, process, project or service activities.
