Training occurs on 1st shift (6:00am - 7:00am start time)


Position Summary
Integrity Trade Services is seeking a railcar switchman for a liquid storage facility in Hammond, IN. Candidates should have prior experience in railcar switching, or spotting.


Responsibilities

• Safely operate switch engines, including starting and stopping the engines.

• Competently and safely direct the switch engine operator while working the ground side of the switch.

• Secure all outbound railcars in accordance to DOT requirements and the Railroad Safety Inspection form.

• Properly check oils, fuel, radiator and brakes of switch engines prior to operating the engines.

• Capable of throwing rail switches properly.

• Competently fulfill all requirements of the Rail Car Switching Operating Procedure 216.

• Ability to work and communicate with others, motivating and leading them to perform required duties.

• Perform proper visual inspections of tank wagons, tank cars and ISO containers prior to loading according to procedure, verifying they are clean, dry, odor free; and vessel integrity is safe for loading.

• Load and unload product from storage tanks, tank cars, tank wagons and ISO containers to storage tanks, tank cars, tank wagons and ISO containers for shipping, receiving and storing of customer products by hooking up hoses, pumps and filters as required; nitrogen or air service as required.

• Gauge and temperature storage tanks, tank cars, tank wagons and ISO containers accurately.

• Pull product samples from storage tanks, tank cars, tank wagons and ISO containers.

• Execute product transfer from storage tanks, tank cars, tank wagons and ISO containers to blend tanks and vises versus for blending, packaging or shipping, by hooking up hoses, pumps and filters as required.

• Understand and conduct heating (using steam) customer products in tank cars, tank wagons, ISO containers and tanks. This includes knowing product temperature profiles and the steaming process (hooking up/disconnecting steam hoses and steam traps; turning on and off steam service), including the dynamics of partial filled tank cars, ISO containers, tank wagons and tanks.

• Carry out filter changes and hose pressure testing.

• Always promote and conduct good housekeeping practices facility wide .

• Perform general maintenance duties about the terminal as directed by supervision.

• Promote good customer relations through meeting customer requirements in handling their product(s).
