Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License required Certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring Must-Have: Labor and Delivery experience required, postpartum experience preferred Description: The Registered Nurse on Client Child Health is responsible for the provision of direct patient care to a designated group of patients within the department. This position will work collaboratively with unit leadership to follow the scope of practice for nursing governing bodies that apply to Client Child Health. Responsibilities include observation, data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's physical, psychological, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs. Assess patients and families, whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex, and quickly recognize normal parameters, deviations, and abnormalities in physical, emotional, developmental, and behavioral status based on past clinical experience. Use a person-centered care approach in the development of care plans and in prioritizing nursing care to meet patient and family needs. Plan for care of patients, demonstrating the ability to effectively prioritize both expected and unanticipated needs. Involve patients and families in establishing care goals. Demonstrate critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions and proactively addressing potential and actual problems. Demonstrate competence in the implementation of the technical skills required for the care of patients and families. Act as a resource to peers and remain current on policies, procedures, and standards. Facilitate the linking of patients and families with other disciplines and services as needed. Floating is expected on a rotational basis to other departments. Scheduling is done based on unit needs, and there is no weekend maximum. Unit staff are cross trained to various areas, ensuring comprehensive care and teamwork.
