Summary
The Buyer II is responsible for purchasing materials, components, equipment, and services at the most favorable terms for the organization. This role requires proficiency in supplier negotiations, cost analysis, and supply chain coordination. Buyer II works independently with minimal supervision and may assist in mentoring junior buyers. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Review and process purchase requisitions and orders. 
• Qualify new vendors and maintain vendor information. 
• Build and maintain relationships with vendors. 
• Source and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, service, support, availability, reliability, and selection. 
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with vendors. 
• Analyze market trends and supplier performance to ensure continuous improvement.
• Monitor inventory levels and work with internal stakeholders to forecast future needs.
• Resolve supply issues, including delivery delays, quality problems, or invoice discrepancies. 
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation. 
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
• Collaborate with departments like production, engineering, and finance to align procurement with organizational goals. 
• Assist in identifying cost reduction opportunities. 
• Implement effective negotiations to manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain the quality of goods, timely delivery, and compliance with the terms of contracts. 
• Track purchases and expedite orders to ensure timely delivery. 
• Monitor inventory stock levels. 
• Generate reports on purchasing activity. 
• Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, vendor information, and pricing.
• Other duties as assigned. 

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, vendor bids, process improvements, and drawings. 
• The capacity to work effectively as part of a team. 
• The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, to build relationships with suppliers and internal teams. 
• The ability to analyze data, market trends, and sales data to make informed decisions.
• The ability to research discrepancies and make sound determinations.
• Understanding of manufacturing and fabrication.
• Strong skills in negotiating prices and terms with suppliers to secure favorable deals. 

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2-5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management.
• ERP proficient Syteline preferred.
