Job Summary Responsible for providing and managing oral health care for a specified patient population. Reports To Dental Director Department Dentistry Business Unit Sacred Circle Allied Health Patient Care Yes Worker Status PRN, Hourly Benefits Eligible No Hours Per Week As Needed Work Schedule As Needed Schedule Type TBD Location Salt Lake, West Valley Supervisory None Major Responsibilities/Tasks Provides and manages direct patient care, including oral examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment for a specified patient population. Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed oral health conditions. Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate. Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of dental assistants or dental staff. Trains and supervises dental students, dental assistants, or other dental staff. Keeps accurate patient records of history and activities regarding all treatment and medications. Stays abreast of advancements in dentistry. Complies with all applicable state/federal laws, rules, regulations and procedures. Participates in professional development activities. Maintains strict confidentiality. Reads and understands all Sacred Circle Healthcare policies and procedures. Practices and adheres to the Code of Conduct, Mission and Values statements. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD). Current Utah Dental License and DEA License. Preferred Requirements Experience in a General Practice Residency. Three to five years of directly related experience in oral health care to patients. CPR Certification. Experience working with the Native American community. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of care. Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patient in correct usage. Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements. Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, systems and objectives. Ability to use computer systems and applications. Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards. Ability to plan and organize. Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of existing methods and procedures. Ability to operate office equipment. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, clinical and administrative staff, and the public. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and policies and procedures. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
