Mobile Diesel Mechanic II Variable Shift

Job Summary Mobile Diesel Technician Level II – DOT Management Level, Individual Contributor. Flexible work options with remote work possible within specified city, state, or region. 100% travel required. Variable shift schedule. Hourly base pay rate of $32.07–$48.13; range may vary based on location and qualifications. Eligible for additional compensation such as commission and incentive program. Duties Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Make minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, and transmission components. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck systems, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and confirm proper operation. Identify problems, assess information accuracy and relevance, and generate and evaluate alternative solutions using sound judgment. Independently manage parts inventory, perform periodic reconciliation, and maintain the company‑issued service truck. Conduct safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections of the service vehicle. Work effectively with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, and resolve problems while satisfying expectations. Prioritize concurrent tasks, making effective judgment on work priorities and time allocation. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks as required. Document work in Repair Orders (“RO”) with pictures and details using a company‑issued iOS device and the TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and all other required documentation promptly. Maintain productivity and adhere to standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary. Communicate with management and support via email or phone to obtain repair estimates and approval. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. Requirements High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of related experience (alternative: any higher degree or certification plus 5 years of experience). Must possess a set of hand tools necessary for job duties. Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months. Must successfully complete and pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical (or submit a DOT medical card with >4 months validity). Must be at least 21 years old. Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain/maintain a Driver Qualification File. Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; perform moderately heavy physical labor and repetitive tasks. Strong communication skills and logical reasoning for problem‑solving.
