At College Track, we don’t just "do the books"—we manage the resources that empower scholars to break the cycle of educational inequity.Position OverviewThe Senior Accountant is a senior member of the Finance & Accounting team, reporting directly to the Controller. This role owns the revenue and receivables close — including contributions, grants and pledges receivable, deferred and restricted revenue, and net asset release; leads cash and investment accounting and the monthly financial reporting package; supports the annual financial statement audit and Form 990 revenue reporting; and serves as a technical accounting resource for the department, researching authoritative guidance and supporting internal controls and policy development.Primary ResponsibilitiesCash & InvestmentsRecord cash receipts and intra-company cash activity (Concur and payroll sweeps), and reconcile check receipts and undeposited fundsPerform monthly bank reconciliations across all accounts, including operating, payroll, and investment accountsPrepare the monthly cash flow report and projection, monitor the organization’s cash position, and reconcile and transfer restricted cashManage investment and cash activity in the Merrill Lynch accounts, book donated stock, and record realized and unrealized gains and losses with reconciliation to the custodianPrepare the annual investments summary and footnoteRevenue, Contributions & Restricted FundsRecord all forms of income, including interest income, in-kind donations of goods and services, and earned revenue from services rendered and cost-reimbursement arrangementsPrepare grants, contributions, and pledges receivable journal entries and reconciliation schedulesReconcile revenue between Salesforce and Sage Intacct in coordination with the Development teamMaintain the deferred revenue recognition schedule and related journal entriesMaintain the temporarily restricted net asset (TRNA) release schedule, entries, and reconciliations, including reconciliation to SalesforceAccounts ReceivableGenerate the accounts receivable aging report and reconcile it to the general ledgerMaintain the list of grants with donor restrictions, ensure grant agreements and contracts are attached in Salesforce, and perform restricted-grant budgeting, accounting, and reportingAnalyze and record the allowance for doubtful accounts at least quarterly, documenting methodology and write-off recommendations for Controller reviewDetermine annual short-term / long-term classification of grants receivable and the present-value discount on long-term grants receivableFinancial ReportingPrepare the monthly financial reporting package — balance sheet, statement of activities, cash flow, and budget-versus-actualsReconcile the Salesforce secured pipeline to Intacct unrestricted revenue as a revenue-completeness control, escalating variances to the VP FinanceProvide financial information for Development grant proposals and reports, and prepare the monthly grants rollforward summary for the Development teamAudit, Tax & CompliancePrepare audit support across all functional areas for the annual financial statement auditProvide Form 990 support for revenue and foundation status, coordinate the Schedule B major-donor listing, and ensure private-foundation amounts are accurate for 990 reportingMaintain multi-state charitable “good standing” registrations and filingsTechnical Accounting, Internal Controls & PlanningResearch GAAP / FASB pronouncements and ensure proper accounting treatmentDevelop and document internal controls and accounting policyProvide accounting policy education and training to the teamParticipate in annual and semi-annual planning and goal settingPerforms other duties and contributes to special projects as assigned by the Controller or Finance & Accounting leadershipQualificationsFirst and foremost, the Senior Accountant will be a fierce advocate for College Track’s mission to equip scholars confronting obstacles to earn a bachelor’s degree in pursuit of a life of opportunity, choice, purpose, and power. Additionally, candidates bring with them the following skills, experience, and knowledge:Education & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA preferredMinimum 4–6 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, with demonstrated strength in revenue recognition, accounts receivable, and account reconciliationWorking knowledge of nonprofit GAAP, including contribution and grant revenue recognition (ASC 958-605), earned and exchange revenue recognition (ASC 606), and net asset accountingPrior experience in a nonprofit organization with a budget exceeding $10M preferredTechnical SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills requiredProficiency in Google Workspace, with strong Google Sheets skills preferredExperience with Sage Intacct or comparable cloud-based ERP required; experience with Concur Expense strongly preferredFamiliarity with Salesforce or a comparable CRM / donor database and revenue-to-CRM reconciliation preferredComfort with a complex chart of accounts structure and account-level reconciliationFamiliarity with AI-assisted tools (such as Claude or Gemini) in support of accounting and finance workflows preferredCore CompetenciesCommitment to the mission of College Track and to equitable service to scholars from underserved communitiesStrong technical accounting judgment, with the ability to research and apply authoritative guidance independentlyHigh degree of accuracy and attention to detail across recurring reconciliation and close responsibilitiesStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines across monthly, quarterly, and annual close cyclesEffective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to train staff and advise on accounting policyDemonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team structurePhysical Requirements:Admin Jobs: sedentary work that primarily involves sitting, standing, typing on a keyboard, manipulating a mouse to use a computer's operating system/internet. Ability to move around an office environment and communicate with stakeholders (conveying and receiving information).Compensation and BenefitsThis position is full-timeexempt with a full compensation range of $101,200.00 - $126,500.00 with the exact compensation depending on experience. However, as someone new to the role, you can expect an offer between $107,525.00 - $113,848.85 to ensure internal equity while leaving room for salary growth during your time in the position.College Track provides access to extensive benefits centered around three core areas of wellness: health care, work-life balance, and financial security.
