At College Track, we don’t just "do the books"—we manage the resources that empower scholars to break the cycle of educational inequity.Position OverviewThe Senior Accountant is a key member of the Finance & Accounting team, reporting directly to the Controller. This role owns the general ledger close for fixed assets, leases, prepaids, and accrued liabilities; leads benefit and payroll-related balance sheet reconciliations; manages the annual financial statement audit and Form 990 preparation; and serves as a technical accounting resource for the department, researching authoritative guidance and supporting internal controls, contract review, and policy development.Primary ResponsibilitiesFixed Assets & Lease AccountingMaintain the fixed asset schedule — adding new assets and disposals and verifying classification and useful lives — and prepare monthly depreciation and amortization journal entriesReview accounts payable for fixed-asset additions and prepare reclassification entriesPerform the monthly fixed asset rollforward and reconcile the sub-ledger to the general ledger, and prepare year-end fixed asset footnote and cash flow statement supportPrepare ASC 842 lease journal entries (ROU asset amortization and lease liability) and reconcile to Visual Lease, and maintain the Visual Lease databaseDetermine annual short-term / long-term lease liability classification and maintain capital and operating lease agreement recordsPrepaids, Accruals & Balance Sheet ReconciliationsOwn prepaid rent allocation, prepaid expense journal entries and reconciliation schedules, and security deposit reconciliationRecord and reconcile the Concur credit card expense accrual and the Concur expense reimbursement accrualReconcile accrued expensesPayroll & Benefit Liability ReconciliationsReconcile health benefit expense and liabilities to carrier statements and FSA benefit liability and expense to the third-party administratorReconcile payroll liability accounts and perform the quarterly workers’ compensation accrual review and reconciliationReconcile the annual Bonusly peer-recognition expenseContract ManagementReview agreements for financial complianceSupport contract lifecycle management, including workflow coordination, contract review, tracking milestones, contract variances, and renewalsTechnical Accounting, Internal Controls & ComplianceResearch GAAP / FASB pronouncements and ensure proper accounting treatmentDevelop, document, and monitor compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.Provide accounting policy education and training to the teamPerform the annual systems user-access audit across Intacct, ADP, Bill.com, and ConcurSupport records and filings for business licenses and property tax welfare exemptionsAudit, Tax & PlanningManage the annual financial statement audit, including the PBC list and scheduling, and prepare audit support across all functional areasManage annual Form 990 preparation in coordination with external tax preparers, and provide 990 support for fundraising event expenses and payroll / compensation dataContribute to the functional expense allocation scheduleParticipate in annual and semi-annual planning and goal settingQualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA preferredMinimum 4–6 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, with demonstrated strength in general ledger, accruals, fixed assets, and balance sheet reconciliationWorking knowledge of nonprofit GAAP (ASC 958) and ASC 842 lease accountingPrior experience in a nonprofit organization with a budget exceeding $10M preferredTechnical SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills requiredProficiency in Google Workspace, with strong Google Sheets skills preferredExperience with Sage Intacct or comparable cloud-based ERP required; experience with Concur Expense strongly preferredFamiliarity with lease accounting software (e.g., Visual Lease), Bill.com, and benefits / TPA reconciliation preferredComfort with multi-entity chart of accounts structures and account-level reconciliationFamiliarity with AI-assisted tools (such as Claude or Gemini) in support of accounting and finance workflows preferredCore CompetenciesCommitment to the mission of College Track and to equitable service to scholars from underserved communitiesStrong technical accounting judgment, with the ability to research and apply authoritative guidance independentlyHigh degree of accuracy and attention to detail across recurring reconciliation and close responsibilitiesStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines across monthly, quarterly, and annual close cyclesEffective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to train staff and advise on accounting policyDemonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team structureCompensation and BenefitsThis position is full-timeexempt with a full compensation range of $101,200.00 - $126,500.00with the exact compensation depending on experience. However, as someone new to the role, you can expect an offer around $107,525.00 - $113,848.85 to ensure internal equity while leaving room for salary growth during your time in the position.College Track provides access to extensive benefits centered around three core areas of wellness: health care, work-life balance, and financial security.
