Opportunity: Inventory Manager

Location: DePew, New York 14043 
Reports To: Director of Operations

Overview:

A leading distribution and 3PL operation is seeking an experienced Inventory Manager to oversee inventory control, accuracy, and process optimization within a high-volume, complex distribution environment. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring operational efficiency, system integrity, and inventory accuracy across multiple business units and client accounts.

The operation handles tens of thousands of SKUs and units , supporting both retail distribution and direct-to-consumer (DTC) fulfillment channels, with significant annual shipping volumes. This is a highly visible leadership role focused on driving improvements in inventory accuracy and overall warehouse performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Operations & Control

• Lead all inventory-related processes including receiving, put-away, replenishment, and fulfillment (case/pallet pick)
• Oversee cycle counting programs, inventory reconciliation, and system balancing activities across WMS/ERP platforms
• Manage inventory transactions including adjustments, transfers, destructions, and remainders based on client requirements
• Ensure alignment between physical inventory and system records, identifying root causes of discrepancies and implementing corrective actions
• Coordinate and report on cycle count performance and inventory accuracy metrics

Process Improvement & Efficiency

• Evaluate and optimize warehouse slotting strategies , understanding the impact on picking efficiency and throughput
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives , with a strong focus on increasing internal inventory accuracy
• Assess warehouse layout, storage utilization (rack and bulk locations), and material flow to improve operational efficiency
• Support recycling and sustainability-related inventory processes

Operations Support & Equipment Oversight

• Oversee inventory-related support for a full range of powered material handling equipment across warehouse, fulfillment, and dock operations
• Ensure best practices in equipment utilization, safety, and alignment with inventory processes
• Partner closely with warehouse operations to ensure seamless execution across fulfillment channels, including retail and direct-to-consumer shipments

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Operations, IT, Finance, and client stakeholders to ensure inventory integrity and service levels
• Support multi-client environments where inventory levels and controls are dictated by external customers
• Assist with audits, reporting, and compliance requirements across internal and client standards

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead and develop inventory teams, including supervisors and warehouse associates
• Establish clear performance expectations and drive accountability around accuracy, productivity, and safety
• Foster a culture centered on continuous improvement, operational excellence, and teamwork

Operational Environment:

• Multi-client 3PL distribution environment supporting:
• • ~10K SKUs and tens of thousands of units in circulation
  • Large-scale reserve storage (rack and bulk positions)
  • ~11K active pick locations
  • High-volume fulfillment , including both retail distribution and millions of annual DTC shipments
• Fast-paced, highly complex operation with strong emphasis on inventory accuracy and process discipline

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, or supply chain environments
• 3+ years of leadership experience in high-volume distribution or manufacturing settings
• Strong experience with WMS and ERP systems , inventory reconciliation, and cycle counting processes
• Deep understanding of warehouse slotting, inventory flows, and storage optimization
• Familiarity with powered industrial equipment operations (forklifts, material handling equipment, etc.)
• Proven ability to lead process improvement initiatives and drive measurable results
