Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN General)Administers nursing care within scope of practice under the direction of registered nurse or licensed physician. Administers oxygen and applies sterile dressings. Inserts catheters and reinserts gastrotomy tubes. Suction, irrigate wounds, and give enemas or douches. Collects specimens and performs dialysis treatments, operating hemodialysis equipment while monitoring patients during procedures. Assists licensed healthcare professionals with physical exams, treatments, and laboratory tests. Assists in emergencies by administering first aid, performing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, and restraining patients. Administers controlled and non-controlled medications in various forms. Provides medication instructions to patients. Maintains medication accountability records and observes, documents, and reports patient conditions. Prepares and maintains related reports and records. Provides general nursing care, including taking patient vital signs and assisting with personal grooming and hygiene. Administers topical ointments and solutions, and medications as instructed. Repositions patients and responds to patient alarms. Makes medical appointments for patients and assists with recreational activities. Provides one-to-one group activities according to treatment plans. Orders medication and medical supplies as needed. Cleans nursing areas and performs clerical tasks. Participates in various meetings, staff conferences, committees, and training programs as assigned. Demonstrates knowledge of skilled nursing procedures, pharmacology, first aid, and CPR. Utilizes medical equipment competently and displays good rapport with patients. Understands manuals and verbal instructions associated with practical nursing. Demonstrates dexterity to administer injections and perform medical treatments.
