Skills and CompetenciesExpertise in Python and SQL alongside other scripting languages such as Ruby, with a demonstrated understanding of software architecture principles required to design scalable systemsDemonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Proven ability to implement AI-powered solutions to solve business challenges. Demonstrates a growing awareness of AI risk management and a commitment to responsible and ethical AI useStrong ability to design and implement high-quality, scalable, and maintainable back-end code solutions that meet business and technical requirementsDemonstrated initiative and autonomy in problem-solving, with the ability to translate abstract requirements into well-defined technical objectivesProven adaptability, with a track record of learning new programming languages, tools, and technology stacks and applying them effectively based on business needsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts and business requirements to technical and non-technical stakeholdersKnowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is preferred but not requiredEducationBachelor's degree in a STEM field with 7+ years of relevant hands-on industry experience, orMaster's degree in a STEM field with 4+ years of relevant hands-on industry experience, orPhD degree in a STEM field with 2+ years of relevant hands-on industry experienceResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain robust, scalable back-end systems that power high-performance insurance analytics applications.Design, build, and maintain extensible back-end services and web applications with a focus on architecture, scalability, and reliabilityParticipate in technical design discussions and provide expert input across the back-end technology stackPerform code reviews and technical analysis to ensure code quality, maintainability, and alignment with engineering standardsDevelop and maintain unit and end-to-end tests to ensure system performance and reliabilityCollaborate closely with product, data science, and machine learning partners to translate business requirements into technical solutionsEvaluate new tools and technologies and provide recommendations to continuously improve the back-end technology stackOwn critical components of back-end development, demonstrating strong technical judgment and collaboration skillsAbout the TeamOur software engineering team is responsible for building the core databases, APIs, and applications that support Moody's insurance analytics platform. By joining the team, you will collaborate closely with machine learning engineers and data scientists to solve complex engineering challenges and deliver meaningful impact for customers and internal partners. We tackle difficult engineering challenges and focus on delivering impact for our coworkers and clients each day.For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $139,800.00 - $202,800.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for a completion bonus.
