We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse specializing in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Floats to other departments as needed at Evans Army Community Hospital (EACH) at Fort Carson. The ideal candidate will possess extensive critical care experience, demonstrating proficiency in managing complex patient needs across various medical settings. As a Registered Nurse-ICU and Float, you will provide expert patient care, adapt to diverse clinical environments, and support our commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare services. Location: Evans Army Community Hospital (EACH) at Fort Carson, 1650 Cochrane Cir, Colorado Springs, CO 80913 Schedule: Can be scheduled any day of the week Days, nights, and weekend shifts Shifts: 0700-1900 or 1900-0700 Typically 12-hour shifts 100 OT hours 312 On-Call Hours Qualifications: Must be a US Citizen Degree/Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Graduate from a National League of Nursing (NLN), from an American Academy College of Nursing accredited college, or a nursing program from a school accredited by the national nursing accreditation agencies of the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Experience: Two years of nursing experience in an inpatient setting within the past 3 years, with one year of ICU experience. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS Licensure: State RN License Duties: Work involves physical exertion such as prolonged periods of walking, standing, sitting, bending, lifting and positioning patients, and moving furniture/equipment. Provides an advanced level of specialized nursing care to complex, critically ill patients. Provides continuous observation and monitoring and intervenes to prevent complications and attempt to restore health. Administers emergency drugs as directed by a physician. Assists in the performance of endotracheal intubation and other duties as instructed. Interprets signs and symptoms of deterioration in condition and updates MD of changes. Consults with physicians regarding medical and nursing management. Ensures all infection control standards are applied in accordance with unit and department operating instructions. Assists the physician with procedures such as cardio-version and insertion of invasive lines, chest tubes, etc. Inserts intravenous catheters and performs venipunctures to collect blood samples. Assesses patient's response regarding cardiac output, vital signs, peripheral perfusion, and level of consciousness. Administers and regulates intravenous fluids such as lipids and blood volume expanders. Administers and regulates vasoactive drugs. Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness. Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF. Perform physical exam and health histories. Provide health promotions, counseling, and education. Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions. Guide and advise care provided by other healthcare professionals. Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel. Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations. Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization. Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate.
