Controls Field Service Engineer - GE Mark VI / Mark VIe

Basis North America is seeking a Controls Field Service Engineer with approximately 5-10 years of experience for a potential long-term field assignment in the United States.

We are looking for a controls professional with a solid background in industrial automation, commissioning, and field troubleshooting who is interested in further developing their expertise in gas turbine and turbomachinery control systems .

The selected candidate will work alongside experienced Senior Controls Field Service Engineers, supporting commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, maintenance, and field activities while gaining additional hands-on exposure to turbine control systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Support commissioning, startup, testing, and troubleshooting of industrial control systems.
• Assist with installation, configuration, testing, and verification of control and instrumentation systems.
• Perform loop checks, I/O verification, functional testing, interlock and permissive verification.
• Support troubleshooting of PLC, DCS, SIS, instrumentation, sensors, actuators, valves, and control logic.
• Work with engineering and senior field personnel during turbine commissioning and startup activities.
• Review P&IDs, loop drawings, control narratives, Cause & Effect documentation, and electrical/control schematics.
• Support preparation of commissioning documentation, redlines, test records, and turnover packages.
• Participate in field activities related to gas turbines, compressors, and other rotating equipment.

Required Qualifications

• 5-10 years of experience in Controls, Instrumentation, Automation, I&C, or Commissioning.
• Hands-on experience with industrial PLC, DCS, or turbine control systems.
• Previous field commissioning, startup, or troubleshooting experience.
• Experience performing loop checks, I/O testing, functional testing, and instrumentation troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and control documentation.
• Willingness to travel and work on field assignments.
• Must be physically located in the United States.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Experience

Experience with any of the following is highly desirable:

• GE Mark VI / Mark VIe
• GE Speedtronic control systems
• Gas turbine or steam turbine controls
• Turbomachinery and compressor controls
• Allen-Bradley / ControlLogix / Studio 5000
• Emerson DeltaV
• Siemens PLC systems
• DCS / SIS systems
• Bently Nevada vibration monitoring systems
• Commissioning and startup of LNG, Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or power-generation facilities

Direct senior-level expertise in GE Mark VI/VIe is not required . Candidates with a strong controls and commissioning foundation who are interested in developing additional turbomachinery controls expertise are encouraged to apply.

Potential long-term assignment , with anticipated opportunities beginning in late 2026 / early 2027.

Compensation

Competitive hourly rate based on experience and technical background.
