VP, Institutional Business Development, Mid-West Life Insurance

Position Overview This role focuses on new client development and retention within Life Insurance companies across the Mid‑West. The successful candidate will consultatively engage multiple stakeholders at key insurance companies, delivering Nuveen’s firm through a private banking style distribution process. The position involves public and private fixed income, public and private equity, real estate, and real assets, and requires approximately 50% travel while being based in the Mid‑West. Key Responsibilities and Duties Execute a private banking style distribution model specific to U.S. Life Insurers, leveraging intellectual capital across multiple areas of Nuveen. Transcend product lines and deliver the firm holistically when engaging with insurance company stakeholders. Understand and communicate complex insurance investment structures and regulations. Collaborate effectively with portfolio managers and insurance distribution colleagues, both domestically and globally. Oversee the onboarding process for new clients. Exceed client service expectations through proactive and ongoing engagement. Maintain and grow relationships with new client wins. Qualifications University degree (Bachelor's required). MBA and/or CFA preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance investment management, business development, or direct insurance company asset owner experience; 7+ years preferred. Demonstrated success in developing relationships, building a pipeline of opportunities, and winning new clients. Comprehensive understanding of the features, design, and benefits of Nuveen products and services, or the ability to develop this knowledge quickly. FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 registrations required, or must be obtained within 90 days of hire. Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Mid‑West. Preferred experience: 10+ years in insurance investment management or business development with a focus on Mid‑West Life Insurers. Compensation Base Pay Range: $144,000 – $202,000 per year. In addition to base salary, the compensation package may include incentive programs linked to performance, such as annual discretionary incentive programs, non‑annual sales incentive plans, or other non‑annual incentive plans.
