PRN Child Advocate Isabel's House - Crisis Nursery of the Ozarks, Inc. Location: Springfield, MO Position Type: Non-Exempt | PRN (as needed) Schedule: The PRN Child Advocate position offers a flexible schedule for an as needed position providing 24/7 care at Isabel's House. These shifts can be full or partial shifts. You will not have set hours each month but will be able to pick up shifts as needed. All PRNs are responsible for working 16 hours a month to maintain their PRN position. Hours: 5:45 am - 2:15 pm | Weekends: 5:45-2:15 PM & 1:45 - 10:15 PM Isabel's House is seeking compassionate, trauma‑informed, responsible individuals to join our team as PRN Child Advocates. In this role, you’ll provide daily care and supervision to children in crisis, helping create a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment during some of the most challenging moments in their lives. What You’ll Do Provide a safe, healthy, and non‑judgmental environment for children and families Supervise and engage children in age‑appropriate, therapeutic, and educational activities Support children with homework, play, and daily routines Implement developmentally appropriate practices and therapeutic curriculum Follow agency policies, licensing regulations, and approved behavior guidance techniques Maintain required child‑to‑staff ratios at all times Accurately complete documentation and daily logs Assist with household responsibilities, including cleaning, laundry, and organization Communicate safety concerns or policy issues immediately to supervisors Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community partners What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications At least 21 years of age High school diploma or GED Ability to pass all required pre‑employment screenings (background checks, drug test, TB screening, references) Valid Missouri driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and proof of insurance Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Preferred Qualifications One year of experience working with children in a childcare or residential setting Strong communication, judgment, and problem‑solving skills Ability to remain calm, flexible, and professional in a fast‑paced environment Skills That Make You Successful Compassionate and mature approach to working with children and families Team‑oriented mindset with strong communication skills Ability to multitask and adapt under pressure Creativity, initiative, and a commitment to child development Respect for confidentiality at all times Practice proactive, not reactive responses Work Schedule & Conditions Must work a minimum of 16 hours a month Cover staffing gaps during shifts Daily contact with children in a residential care setting Why Isabel’s House?
