Staff RN- Medical Unit 3

Job Summary Assist the Registered Nurse in providing direct patient care to multiple patients on a designated nursing unit. Responsibilities and Duties Perform and/or assist patients with activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, grooming, eating, walking). Maintain environmental cleanliness and safety of patient rooms, unit, and equipment. Provide assistance to patients, visitors, and nursing personnel; maintain flexibility to help other departments as needed. Assist in creating a positive patient experience by developing respectful and compassionate relationships with patients and families. May serve as a patient safety champion, empowering equal responsibility for all safety guidelines among licensed and unlicensed caregivers. May assist in telemetry cardiac monitoring, recognize life‑threatening arrhythmias, and communicate immediately to an available licensed clinician. May act as a transporter for the unit; run errands to pick up or deliver items for patient care. Perform delegable nursing tasks as directed by the RN (e.g., waived fingerstick glucose testing, urine dipstick, non‑sterile specimen collection, nasogastric tube care, 12‑lead EKG, simple dressing changes). Accurately collect and record data (height, weight, vital signs, intake & output, etc.) on the appropriate documentation forms. Use portable technology and handheld wireless devices for measurement and documentation. Report patient observations and concerns to the registered nurse. Assist hospital visitors and staff with information needs. Maintain supplies and equipment necessary for patient care operations; secure and handle appropriate supplies, medications, and lab specimens. Shift and Hours Night shift. Scheduled weekly hours: 36. Department: Medical Unit 3. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. 16‑ and 17‑year‑olds considered only if they have a valid work permit. 18‑year‑olds enrolled in high school do not need a high school diploma, GED, or work permit to be considered.
