Cardiac Sonographer - Atrium Health CMC Main Sanger Heart & Vascular FT

Position Summary Full‑time Cardiac Sonographer position at 36912 Carolinas Medical Center – Echocardiography. 40 hours per week on the 1st shift. Eligible for benefits and a sign‑on bonus. Pay range: $35.50 – $53.25 per hour. Responsibilities Perform routine and emergency echocardiograms, including 2‑D, 3‑D, Doppler, Transesophageal, and Stress Echocardiography, per physician request and established protocols. Record quality information while performing imaging and follow procedural guidelines. Explain procedures and potential side effects to patients or families. Provide echocardiography services at all required locations, including portables, variable shifts, weekends, and emergent call coverage as scheduled. Operate equipment to obtain optimal diagnostic recordings; utilize ancillary devices such as transducers, digital networking, and offline analysis systems. Maintain equipment in working order, make minor adjustments and repairs. Perform routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and report any equipment malfunction to the lab manager. Analyze patient medical records to obtain history and necessary information for diagnostic procedures. Prepare preliminary reports for review and interpretation by the Cardiologist. Participate in quality improvement activities; evaluate procedure results for technical quality and accuracy; maintain logs and records. Review departmental performance relative to established goals and implement changes to improve outcomes. Maintain confidentiality of patients, employees, and corporate activities. Instruct students, fellows, nurses, or health personnel as requested. Communicate technical and patient‑care information according to established processes and timelines. Attend Echo Lab meetings, pursue continuing education, and participate in related conferences. Work weekends, holidays, and on‑call as required. Cultivate a collaborative and cooperative work environment within the department. For Level 4 Cardiac Sonographers, additional expectations include: Participate in dedicated research protocols. Perform portable and lab echocardiograms in an inpatient setting on weekends, holidays, and call. Act as a resource in the absence of the leadership team to provide coverage. Actively participate in internal and external educational opportunities. Serve as a role model for other cardiac sonographers. Diagnose and troubleshoot Cardiac Ultrasound equipment issues, following through until resolved. Troubleshoot issues with EMR and Cardiac PACS system. Qualifications Education High school diploma or GED required. Associate's degree preferred. Certification / License Valid Sonography credential registration (ARRT(S), RDMS, RDCS) through ARRT and/or ARDMS. Must be registered in appropriate cardiology specialties within one year of hire. Completion of CPR Course – BLS certification required. ACS and/or RCS through CCI preferred. Experience One year experience with patients preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Communicate effectively with physicians, staff, and other personnel regarding patient care. Communicate with patients of varying age groups. Teach and assess quality of other sonographers' work. Organize tasks and maintain a positive, collaborative working relationship. Work effectively in a stressful environment and maintain self‑control. Use sound judgment in decision‑making. Multitask and prioritize responsibilities. Potential exposure to infectious and contagious diseases, blood‑borne diseases, and unpleasant patient or unit conditions. Exposure to housekeeping/cleaning agents and chemicals.
