Job Overview
The Admissions Clerk is responsible for coordinating the admission process for new residents, ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately and timely. This role serves as a liaison between residents, families, hospital discharge planners, and facility departments to ensure a smooth transition into the nursing home.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and process new resident admissions.

• Gather and verify required admission paperwork, insurance information, and medical records.

• Communicate with hospitals, case managers, referral sources, residents, and family members regarding admissions.

• Maintain accurate resident files and admission records.

• Enter resident information into the facility's electronic medical record (EMR) system.

• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary authorizations when applicable.

• Schedule admission appointments and welcome new residents and their families.

• Assist with resident room assignments and communicate admission details to appropriate departments.

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility admission regulations.

• Maintain confidentiality of resident information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.

• Provide administrative support to the Admissions Director and leadership team as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.

• Previous experience in healthcare, long-term care, admissions, customer service, or administrative support preferred.

• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes is a plus.

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and electronic health record systems.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
