Maintenance Aide

Maintenance Aide- Full TimeAssists in day-to-day operations of school district by providing custodial, maintenance, and security services. Work schedule may vary based on scheduled projects and may include various hours due to weather conditions.Primary Duties:Proven mechanical and/or skilled trades capabilitiesExperienced in general carpentry, glazing, commercial door hardware, painting, general plumbing, basic electrical, operation of grounds maintenance equipment and overall good mechanical aptitude.Experience in repair and maintenance of air handlers, roof top units, boilers, refrigeration systems, cooling, tower equipment and heating control systems is preferred.Performs maintenance repair and improvement tasksDeliver receivables to teachers and/or staffResponsible for the sanitary condition of building facilitiesResponsible for minor repairs of furnitureProvide security services by securing building exits and admitting individuals within school district policiesResponsible for the care of school grounds including removal of snow from parking lots, walkways, sidewalks, steps and other areas as neededRepresent school district in a professional manner during interactions with staff, external vendors and general publicAdditional duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:Ability to follow oral and written instructionsAbility to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.Ability to perform physical labor required for custodial duties including long hours while standing, bending and liftingMaintains a high level of confidentialityPossess good interpersonal skills in working with students, staff and general publicPrevious work experience preferredHigh School Diploma or GED requiredMust pass a skills testPhysical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to spend most of the work-day standing, lifting, and walking. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and move heavier materials using appropriate equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee is required to properly use such safety equipment as is appropriate to the work to prevent injury to self or others. Ability to communicate in person, by radio, electronically and over the phone. Ability to use computer equipment to complete reports, generate service orders, maintain inventories, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. It may be expected that the individual could be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials or illnesses during the course of their duties. Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
