Design Release Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Design Release Engineer for a Contract with a client in Dearborn, MI. Candidates must have hands-on experience with DFMEA and 3D CAD tools (NX/CATIA) to develop and release automotive closure systems while ensuring fit, finish, and design rule compliance.


Rate Range: $34/Hour to $36/Hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.


Design Release Engineer Responsibilities include:

• Develop and release front and rear closure systems, including hoods, doors, liftgates, and adjoining components, while meeting engineering, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead and support DFMEA activities to identify potential failure modes, drive corrective actions, and reduce design risks throughout the product lifecycle.
• Create, review, and modify 3D CAD models using NX or CATIA, ensuring proper GD&T application, fit and finish quality, and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with Studio, Design, and cross-functional teams to translate styling concepts into feasible and production-ready engineering solutions.
• Conduct design validation activities, interference checks, and compliance reviews to ensure components meet performance, safety, and design standards.
• Coordinate with suppliers on design intent, quality concerns, corrective actions, and documentation while supporting program milestones and production releases.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 1+ years of experience in automotive product design, design release engineering, or component development; recent graduates with relevant internships/co-op experience may also be considered.
• Experience with DFMEA/PFMEA methodologies, CAD-based design reviews, and the ability to take measurements and evaluate engineering data using NX or CATIA.
• Strong understanding of automotive closures systems, GD&T, design validation, interference analysis, and compliance with engineering standards and regulations.

Pay Details: $34.00 to $36.00 per hour
