Details Labor and Delivery unit within a high-volume academic medical center Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:00), 36 or 48 hours per week Unit averages 2,000 deliveries annually with 8 private labor rooms, 4 private triage beds, and 2 OB operating rooms Cares for both low-risk (including certified nurse midwife) and high-risk maternal fetal medicine patients Cross-training to Mother/Baby required, with possible floating to NICU for feeder/grower infants Floating required within scope of practice as needed Every other weekend required Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays Requirements Active VA or compact RN license required BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications required; ACLS preferred Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required Epic EMR experience required BSN preferred Experience with fetal monitoring and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns required Nursys license verification required for consideration Two professional references required for consideration Additional Information Responsibilities include labor and delivery management, fetal monitoring, antepartum and postpartum care, and assisting with C-section procedures Skilled in magnesium sulfate therapy and management of postpartum hemorrhage Provides newborn assessment and neonatal care in the delivery room Up to 40 hours of RTO allowed per 13-week contract; all time off must be disclosed prior to offer acceptance Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to determine an appropriate start date First-time travelers are welcome to apply Previous UVA Health permanent staff or internal travelers require a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at the facility and are not eligible to return once this limit is reached American Traveler Job ID P-746439.
