Duties: Under the general direction of the Supervising Engineer, Water Resources (Branch Manager), the Senior Environmental Scientist acts as the Manager of the Land and Water Use and Conservation Section for the North Central Region Office and is responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of a multi-disciplinary team.

Special Requirements

The incumbent must possess a valid California driver's license with a good driving record and be able to drive a state vehicle to attend in-person meetings and events and oversee field activities supported by the section.

This position requires the incumbent to develop and supervise Section staff; work cooperatively with others; exercise sound professional judgment; analyze situations accurately and take effective action; possess excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills; establish and maintain cooperative relations with other agencies; represent the Department at meetings. The ability to showcase technical writing skills in more than one way such as presentative and briefing styles.  Express knowledge of surveying, ground truthing, land and water use, water management plans and investigative skills are all sought after characteristics.
