Description:
Strict 75-mile radius rule applies.
RRT's only; critical care experience is required.
Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience and 1 travel contract.
300+ bed experience is required.
A hospitalist will respond to codes, but the respiratory therapist will be the first line when it comes to intubating patients.
Candidates must be comfortable with intubating patients.
Therapists must be accustomed to high and heavy workloads.
Interviews will be conducted with internal nursing staff.
Profiles and internal notes will be sent for approval; no second interview will be needed.
Respiratory therapists perform approximately 550 minutes of treatments per shift.
Average of 15 minutes per treatment and 13-15 patients per shift.
Charge respiratory therapist responsibilities are included; run Charge and Clinical Coordinator.
Weekend requirements involve working either Monday-Thursday or Friday-Sunday teams.
Holidays will be rotated in with permanent staff; every other holiday can be expected.
No call required.
Scrub color is ceil blue; a ceil blue jacket is permissible.
Ventilation equipment includes servo vents (U and I models).
Hospitalist or intensivist available in-house 24/7.
Pharmacy available 24/7.
Shifts start at 6:45 AM and PM; clocking in is permitted between 6:38 AM to 6:46 AM or 6:38 PM to 6:46 PM.
For floor assignments, the first week includes hospital and charting orientation.
The second week will involve incrementally increased workload assignments.
In the ICU, additional orientation time will be assigned.
Patients include adults, pediatrics, and neonates; NICU therapists are under the nursing manager for NICU.
Duties include all respiratory therapy responsibilities such as nebulizer treatments, airway management, and ventilation support.
In the ICU, responsibilities include placing A lines, managing blood gases, intubation, and bronchoscopy procedures.
Common patient disease processes include COPD, CHF, pneumonia, respiratory failure, ARDS, and cancers.
Assignments are based on unit needs.
In the ICU, therapists handle up to 4 airways.
On average, there are 11 therapists on days and 10 or 11 on nights based on unit needs.
Floor therapists need a minimum of one year of experience, while critical care therapists require a minimum of two years.
Ideal candidates must be able to work in adult ICU and manage ventilation.
Training will be provided for A line placement.
Candidates should feel confident making suggestions for ventilation management, reading ABGs, and alerting critical values.
Cancellation policy is 12 hours every two weeks.
Charting system used is MEDITECH.
BSN is not required.
License is needed for submission.
Care setting is acute.
