About the Position

Job Responsibilities

• Sterile Field Maintenance: Set up, organize, and manage sterile fields with the specific surgical instrumentation, drapes, and supplies required for scheduled cases matching surgeon preference cards.

• Intraoperative Assistance: Anticipate surgical team requirements dynamically, passing instruments, sutures, and sponges safely while strictly maintaining the integrity of the sterile field.

• Safety Counts: Conduct meticulous instrument, sharp, and sponge counts alongside the circulating nurse prior to initial incision, during the procedure, and before final wound closure.

• Specimen & Post-Op Cleanup: Safely handle, identify, and hand off tissue specimens to the circulator for pathology verification; coordinate post-op breakdown and safely transfer used instruments to decontamination.

Job Requirements

• Certification: National Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential through NBSTSA or NCCT is referred but not required.

• Experience: Minimum 1 to 2 years of recent, independent scrubbing experience in a high-volume inpatient hospital or level-one trauma setting.

• Clinical Knowledge: Versatility across general operating room platforms (e.g., Ortho, General, GYN, Neuro, or Trauma). Flexibility to participate in facility weekday/weekend on-call rotations if required.

• Life Support: Active American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification.
