Senior Risk Control Specialist

The Senior Risk Control Specialist (SRCS) is a tele‑commuting field position within the Risk Management Department at Wright Specialty Insurance (WSI). The SRCS provides risk management services to insureds located in the Mountain and Pacific time zones, including K‑12 schools and higher education institutions. The primary responsibilities involve inspections, risk assessments, safety committee participation, regional seminars, training, and consultation. Key Responsibilities Perform inspections, risk assessments, and evaluations of insured operations (property, general liability and auto). Attend safety committees and arrange regional seminars. Conduct insured training sessions. Provide risk‑management consultations and surveys. Review employment practices policies and procedures. Arrange and participate in webinars for insureds. Attend and present at relevant association meetings. Write related articles for WSI Risk Management and Association publications. Deliver new‑business prospect reports and marketing support. Plan, develop, and recommend risk‑control services, and implement plans, programs, and controls with minimal oversight to assure retention and growth. Maintain open communication with insureds, insurers, attorneys, teammates, and partners. Assist internal departments, agents/brokers, and insureds in resolving technical questions related to exposure assessment and risk mitigation. Work independently and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: AA/BA/BS degree required; occupational/industrial safety, engineering, fire science or safety‑related degree preferred. Certifications: Associate in Risk Management (ARM) desired; ARM‑P, ASP, GSP or CSP desired; CPSI (Certified Playground Safety Inspector) preferred. Experience: At least 8 years of public‑sector safety or commercial risk control, safety, or fire protection experience. Knowledge: Risk‑control policies, practices, and procedures; loss drivers and exposure; general safety, fire and life safety in educational environments; OSHA, EPA, DOT, state and national codes (e.g., NFPA). Skills: Strong organizational, time‑management, and technical abilities; marketing, consulting, and relationship skills; strong written and verbal communication; computer proficiency; prioritization and deadline‑management.
