Direct care staff Qualifications and Responsibilities:

A. The Child Care Staff shall have responsibility for guidance and supervision of the children to whom he is assigned including:

1. Overseeing physical care;
2. Development of acceptable habits and attitudes;
3. Management of resident behavior; and
4. Helping to meet the goals and objectives of their individualized service plan.

B. A Child Care Staff shall:
1. Have a baccalaureate degree in human services;
2. Have an associate’s degree and three months experience working with children; or
3. Be a high school graduate or have a G.E.D. and have six months of experience working with children and or adolescents.

C. Child Care Staff with a high school diploma or G.E.D. with no experience working with children may not work alone, but may be employed as long as they are working directly with the Executive director or a child care worker with one or more years of professional experience working with children.

D. All staff shall be at least 21 years old.

E. Our agency shall not be dependent on temporary contract workers to provide resident care.

All standard parental duties and responsibilities for youth and home, including, but not limited to: providing 24 hour supervision for youth, cooking, some cleaning, transporting to and from school and appointments, administration of medication and documentation, shopping; assist the children in meeting the goals and objectives of their individual service plans, promote the physical and emotional well-being of the children, and other designated duties within reason. The staff to child ratio is 1:4. The Child Care Staff must have a High School Diploma/GED and at least 6 months experience working with the targeted population.

Child Care Staff

• Provide 24 hour supervision to youth
• Prepare and cook well balanced meals
• Dispense medication to youth and document
• Maintain all log books
• Monthly Fire Drills (day and night-time)
• Practice evacuation procedures
• Complete weekly chore list
• Supervise youth while during chores to ensure proper cleanliness
• Set example for youths to follow
• Ensure youth follow house schedule
• Complete incident report for all injuries
• Check youth’s bedroom’s at least 3 times per night (overnight staff)
• Ensure safety of children
• Attend and transport children to school events
• Make necessary doctor’s appointments for youth and transport
• Encourage children to participate in after school activities
• Ensure trash is taken out by youth on appropriate days
• Ensure youth completing outside chore is watering yard and keeping clean
• Other reasonable duties asked
  Be advised that the Child Care Staff will report directly to their supervisor the House Manager or Program Director.
  Salary for FT Child Care Staff: $18.00 per hour PT Child Care Staff: $16.00 per hour
