Certified Medical Assistant

Ravenwood Health is hiring a full time Medical Assistant. The MA for the Psychiatric and Primary Care Program participates with Physicians and Nurse Practitioners in providing and managing the mental health/primary care needs of Ravenwood Health clients. The MA will provide telephone services for triage, obtain vital signs, collection of data for providers, point of care testing, lab and specimen collection and administration of medications as needed. Medical Assistant Key Responsibilities: Maintains current clinical competence by participation in appropriate training. In addition, provides the agency proof of participation in such activities by providing compilation of continuing education credits. Accepts and documents verbal/written orders from Ravenwood Providers. Answer active Primary Care telephone line, triage, and communicate with providers as needed for medication refills, medication concerns, prior authorizations, etc. Adheres to agency Policy and Procedure, and HIPAA mandates. Displays professionalism and respect in interactions with patients and staff. Rooms and prepares patients for examination; takes and records vital signs; performs phlebotomy as needed; administers medications as directed by the Providers according to policy and procedure Collects data that contributes to the assessment and evaluation of individualized care and needs of assigned patients, including discharge plans, under the direction of the Licensed Nurse/ Provider. Collects, processes, and submits laboratory specimens in accordance with policy and procedure Performs clinical duties that are department specific such as point of care testing, hearing and vision screenings, and any other procedures Performs routine task and general office duties such as faxing, copying, filing, etc. as needed Participates in supervision with Nurse Coordinator and Program Director. Assists Psychiatric providers and support staff in scheduling/ medication refills/ triage when needed. Other duties as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrate knowledge and remain current on information pertaining to mental health treatment. Ability to prioritize effectively and work independently. Is effective in assessing and responding to client’s needs and problems. Regularly attends professional staff meetings. Demonstrate strong communication skills by returning and responding to phone calls or emails within 24 hours and other correspondence in a timely manner. Demonstrates good decision making and problem-solving skills. Maintains clinical record as required. Demonstrates initiative and contributes to ideas and suggestions to improve program operations and quality improvement. Ability to effectively use Microsoft Teams, Outlook and ECR, Carelogic, with provided training. Able to adhere to and contribute to a trauma informed care environment. Effectively maintain appropriate boundaries in accordance with HIPPA. Required Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent is required Completion of an approved (valid) Medical Assistant Program, EMT Program, or Paramedic Program is required Certification: Medical Assistant certification preferred Minimum 1-2 two years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
