About the Position

Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Active state license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH, PALS, TNCC required Must-Have: General Emergency Department experience, combined Adult/Pedi, Level II Trauma Center. Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills, including interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, and obtaining 12 lead EKGs. IV therapy and phlebotomy skills, including blood product administration and central line management. Medication skills, including administration of continuous IV paralytics and sedation. Neurological case experience, including CVA, ICP monitoring, and neuro-trauma. Orthopedic and pediatric case experience, including managing orthopedic trauma and conditions like asthma and burns. Psychiatric case management experience, including assisting patients with acute psychosis and conducting psychiatric holds. Respiratory case experience, including chest tube management, intubation, and care for ventilated patients. Experience with shock and trauma cases, including handling gunshot wounds. Professional knowledge in isolation precautions and triage. Additional skills in tele interpretations and ventilators are preferred. Description: The position is for an Emergency Department Registered Nurse. The typical shift is a night shift lasting 12 hours. The average daily census is 120 patients in a 32-bed emergency department. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:4 for all shifts. Weekend shifts are required as needed. First-time travelers are welcome to apply. Candidates must float as needed within their scope. A state license must be active before applying. Candidates should ideally have no more than 5 days of requested time off. The facility has a dedicated interdisciplinary support team, including pharmacy, social services, and respiratory services. Patient demographics include neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Common patient diagnoses include stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and trauma. The facility is a Primary Stroke Center and a Level II Trauma Center. Specialized equipment utilized includes cardiac monitors and defibrillators.
