Network Communications Specialist

Are you ready to make a statewide impact? The University of Alaska OIT Telecommunications Services is looking for a Senior Network Specialist to join our mission-driven team. We provide the vital connectivity that links campuses across the vast landscape of Alaska, managing everything from global Internet 2 connections to the local UAF networks and UAF’s rural campuses and learning centers.
In this role, you aren’t just maintaining infrastructure; you are part of a collaborative Network Operations and Engineering team dedicated to supporting students, research scientists, and faculty and staff. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (i.e. Information Technology or other related field) and 4 years progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Demonstrated experience supporting WAN and LAN in an enterprise environment, working with routing and switching infrastructure, and working on enterprise IT projects.
Position Details:
This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package . UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule , Grade 81, based on education and experience.
