Business Unit Overview

Blackstone Innovations Investments (BXII) is the early‑stage investing arm within Blackstone. The team sits within the firm’s Technology and Innovations group and executes principal strategic investments in companies across the FinTech, PropTech, Cybersecurity and Enterprise Software spaces. BXII works closely with senior leadership across the firm to identify and partner with world‑class technology companies that can help advance innovation within Blackstone and across its large ecosystem of portfolio companies.

Blackstone Innovations Investments – Senior Vice President ("SVP")

Job Description

As a team member of BXII, SVPs will have a unique opportunity to invest in emerging companies that are well‑positioned to benefit from a deeper relationship with the largest alternative asset manager in the world. You will work directly with BXII leadership and senior executives across Blackstone to build out thematic areas of interest for investment and conduct deep market research. Key focus activities for this position will also be sourcing, company due diligence, deal execution and portfolio management and governance.

A critical component of the team’s approach is to find synergies between BXII portfolio companies and the broader scale and resources of the Blackstone platform. This is done through a variety of activities including, but not limited to, tapping into the operating expertise of the firm, driving connectivity between management teams and Blackstone’s businesses, building collaborative vendor and customer relationships, and providing companies with access to Blackstone’s global network. You will help drive this engagement and support companies as they scale their business.

The ideal candidate should possess: resourcefulness and thoroughness; strong financial and analytical skills; experience or a demonstrated interest in technology; a strong network across relevant industries of interest; ability to work independently; good project management skills with the ability to multi‑task; strong written, presentation and oral communication skills; passion and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Key Activities

• Identify, evaluate and develop investment opportunities.
• Lead due diligence, deal structuring and negotiation of terms sheets and definitive deal documentation.
• Direct the execution of investment transactions; monitor the strategic, operational and financial performance of the company’s portfolio investments.
• Oversee all relevant financial analyses for a deal.
• Conduct research of targeted industries for investment purposes.
• Perform valuation analyses of prospective investment opportunities under consideration.
• Contribute to the preparation of due diligence packs for an investment opportunity, providing relevant, informative analytics and background research on the target company and industry.
• Contribute to the preparation of written analyses and evaluations of investment opportunities for use by the BXII team.

Qualifications

The Successful Candidate Must Have

• 8+ years of investing experience is preferred
• Highly motivated, intelligent and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, a demonstrated ability to write effectively and a desire to work in a team environment
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills
• A desire to work in a team environment with dynamic roles
• An interest in technology and general intellectual curiosity
• Good professional judgment

Expected Annual Base Salary Range

$225,000 – $275,000

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual’s experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.

Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.

Securities License Requirements

• Attending client meetings where you are discussing Blackstone products and/or client questions;
• Marketing Blackstone funds to new or existing clients;
• Supervising or training securities licensed employees;
• Structuring or creating Blackstone funds/products; and
• Advising on marketing plans prepared by a sales team or developing and/or contributing information for marketing materials.
