Job Description: This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, coding solutions, unit testing, and ensuring the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system with clear, robust, and well-tested interfaces. Job expectations include an awareness of development and testing practices in the industry. LOB Description: The right candidate will join our Operational Intelligence Monitoring Tools – Splunk Engineering Team as an individual contributor and will be responsible for managing, expanding, upgrading, automating, and improving performance and sustainability as a hands-on Sr. Splunk Architect/Engineer. The candidate will drive implementation using Lean Agile methodology. The candidate will be responsible for assisting with the design of the Splunk system infrastructure, performance management, automation, and some operational support of the Splunk deployments across the enterprise. Excellent communication skills are needed to interact with technology and business partners, to gather requirements and deliver solutions. Develop and maintain automation solutions for the Splunk Infrastructure using CI/CD workflows with tools like Git, Celestial, XLR, or Terraform. Collaborate with team members to design tools to enhance automation within the Splunk Infrastructure. Must be able to work with available automation tools to design effective testing and deployment strategies that will drive solutions to completion. Able to work with internal customers to design solutions that facilitate integration of third-party components with Splunk, like Dynatrace, Cribl, or Syslog. Able to identify and address technical issues independently. Is able to find solutions using available tools. Develop and maintain documentation for the Splunk infrastructure and its associated components. Responsibilities: Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements Performs Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) activities Contributes to story refinement and definition of requirements Participates in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle Contributes to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance), analyze test reports, identify any test issues/errors, and triage the underlying cause Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas Managerial Responsibilities: This position may also have responsibilities for managing associates. Required Qualifications: 5+ years of experience building, designing, and administering Splunk Infrastructures. Demonstrates mastery of the Splunk CLI, specifically with search head clustering, indexer clustering, and general troubleshooting. Ability to program in 2 or more of the following scripting/programming languages: Bash, C#, C++, Java, Javascript, Perl, Powershell, Python, VBScript, or Visual Basic. Understands basic System Administrator tasks on both Linux and Windows, such as: SSH, Remote Desktop, ping, traceroute, etc. Understands how to use AI tools such as GitHub CoPilot to enhance their work and drive solutions to completion more efficiently. Must understand how to troubleshoot problems and find solutions independently. Strong communication skills and tenaciousness to drive vendors, system admins and others to deliver solutions together. Proven track record of delivering solutions in similar sized Splunk infrastructures. Must be able to demonstrate ability to think of innovative solutions to non-standard issues with Splunk. Desired Qualifications: Previous experience Engineering/Architecting large IT infrastructures of 1000+ systems with multiple data centers. Previous experience supporting large Splunk environments in a ‘support engineer’ capacity Detailed knowledge of Cribl (Edge/Stream). Detailed knowledge of Splunk Smart Store. Experience using deployment tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, TrueSight Server Automation and/or AutoSys. Experience using cloud infrastructures such as AWS or Azure Experience working in a secure, multi-data center environment.
