Position Description Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Winston Salem, NC. Video: Compensation and Benefits Overview Hourly Pay: $30.50 per hour Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification up to $700 Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter Sign On Bonus: $1,750 at 30 days and $1,750 at 90 days Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday Hours: First Shift 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Benefits Annual Merit Pay Increases Every Year On the Job Paid Training Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 K etc. start at 30 days 12 weeks of PAID Maternity Leave for qualifying employees (eligibility requirements, including work tenure) Paid Time Off starts accruing at Day One with 80 hours per year Additional day off for U.S. Military Veterans 401 K offers a company match 15% employee discount on Ryder stock PPE, uniforms, and boot allowance provided Top Technician Recognition Program rewards 12 top technicians each year with cash prizes from $250 to $50,000 Technician Tuition Repayment Program up to $5,000 (ask your recruiter about it) Requirements High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) Vocational or technical post‑secondary degree or certifications (preferred) Basic tools required Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including: Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems (required) Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred) All other certifications required by location (required) Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred) Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment Knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc. This position requires driving Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must: Obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire Pass a Ryder drug test Pass a DOT physical Pass a Ryder road test Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including: Standard vehicle maintenance Preventive maintenance Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable Complete complex and detailed inspections and repairs with minimal supervision Replace defective components as instructed Work unsupervised on most tasks Perform facility maintenance duties Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of a complaint once assigned a task Utilize key functions of the shop management system and electronic documentation available Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT) Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels Access and use internal and external maintenance documents as needed Support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support) SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT220) Complete 2 of the OEM on‑line diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days Important Note Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor‑vehicle records check, a road test, and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.
