Job Description\n Care Career is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in phoenix, Arizona.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: OR - Operating Room\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 10/19/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Responsibilities\n \n Provide perioperative nursing care in a General Operating Room within a Level I Trauma acute-care facility.\n Work in an OR department with 9 regular rooms, 1 trauma room, and 1 urgent room.\n Circulate surgical procedures and maintain patient safety throughout the operative process.\n Scrub for procedures when qualified and assigned.\n Care for approximately 30 surgical cases per day across multiple specialties.\n Participate in cases including:\n \n General surgery\n Orthopedics\n Orthopedic trauma\n Robotics\n Plastics\n Trauma\n ENT\n Spine\n Urology\n Gynecology\n Neonatal procedures\n High-risk C-sections\n Donor procedures\n Hand surgery\n Eye procedures, occasionally\n \n Provide appropriate perioperative care for trauma and high-acuity surgical cases.\n Assist with and maintain strict sterile technique during procedures.\n Perform Foley catheter insertion while maintaining the sterile field.\n Complete required SIMs Lab competency testing during orientation.\n Participate in education related to lifts, restraints, and wound care.\n Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiology, CSTs, nurses, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and other surgical personnel.\n Document perioperative care accurately using Cerner and SurgiNet.\n Respond appropriately to trauma and urgent surgical cases.\n Provide safe patient positioning, surgical preparation, counts, specimen handling, and postoperative handoff according to facility policy.\n Take call as assigned: one call shift per week and one weekend per month.\n Float to Lithotripsy when qualified and assist at designated affiliated campuses when needed.\n Work the scheduled Sunday–Tuesday overnight shifts, 6:30 PM–7:00 AM.\n \n \n Requirements Active RN license required at submission; facility is willing to wait for license. BLS certification required. Level I Trauma experience required. Robotics experience REQUIRED. Must have Trauma, Orthopedic Trauma, and General OR experience. Must be experienced with OR circulation; circulating RN experience is required. Scrub RN experience is a major plus. Must be comfortable maintaining a sterile field, particularly for Foley catheter insertion. Must successfully pass the Day 1 SIMs Lab during orientation. SIMs Lab includes Foley catheter insertion and sterile-field competency and is pass/fail. Must pass the required orientation exam. Must meet the 50-mile radius rule; driver's license is the source of truth for determining distance. First-time travelers are accepted. Must be willing to take one call shift per week and one weekend of call per month, despite the posted Sunday–Tuesday overnight schedule. Must be willing to float to Lithotripsy if appropriately skilled. May be required to float to St. Joseph Westgate or AZ General Laveen Campus. BSN not required. Cerner/SurgiNet experience applicable. Guaranteed 36 hours/week.
