Assistant Produce Manager

Responsibilities Assist the Produce Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit. Manage ordering, inventory controls, product quality, and supervise the Produce team. Coordinate merchandising and sales through planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork. Maintain freshness standards throughout the department by following proper receiving, processing, packaging, pricing, signage, displaying, and rotation of a complete variety of items. Lead a team that brainstorms to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest customer experience. Assist in hiring, teaching, training, and developing the Produce team. Unload and sort store deliveries, operate, and maintain produce equipment. Ensure execution of all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and validate that all Produce team members follow these procedures. If you’re someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, then we want to hear from you! Qualifications Minimum 18 years of age with basic knowledge of math, weights and measures. Dependable and reliable, able to work a flexible schedule that changes, including night, weekends, and holidays. Outgoing and friendly demeanor, positive attitude, and ability to interact with customers. Good communication skills, ability to take direction and participate in a team environment. Perform general housekeeping in the department; clean and sanitize work area (tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.). Adhere to all safety, health, weights, and measures regulations including COOP and maintain a Food Handlers permit. Perform physical requirements: standing, walking, bending, climbing throughout the workday and lift, stack and maneuver heavy objects up to 50 lbs, from 4” to 72”, for distances up to 3 feet for 10–50 hours without mechanical assistance. Use a pallet jack to move pallets up to 20 feet, requiring a force of up to 85 pounds for up to 5 hours.
