Quality Control Technician

Quality Control Technician-Los Angeles, CaliforniaHuntsman is seeking a Quality Control Technician to support quality laboratory operations at our Los Angeles chemical manufacturing site. This hands-on role performs accurate and timely testing of raw materials, in-process materials, intermediates, and finished products to support manufacturing, packaging, and product release decisions.Key ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Testing & Production Support:Perform accurate and timely testing of raw materials, in-process samples, intermediates, and finished products in accordance with approved specifications and test methods.Prioritize testing based on manufacturing, packaging, and product release needs, including time-sensitive and longer-term testing.Perform laboratory testing that may include viscosity, density or specific gravity, moisture, color, appearance, hardness, mechanical testing, DSC, FTIR, titrations, wet chemistry, and other applicable methods.Accurately interpret, document, and communicate test results.Identify and promptly escalate nonconforming, abnormal, or questionable results.Support timely production and material release decisions while maintaining quality requirements.Laboratory Operations & Documentation:Maintain complete and accurate laboratory records, notebooks, logs, and electronic records.Enter test results and material status in SAP or other approved systems.Maintain proper identification, storage, traceability, and integrity of retained samples.Safely operate and maintain assigned laboratory instruments and equipment.Complete required equipment checks and request calibration, service, or repair when needed.Maintain laboratory reagents, supplies, and work areas to support uninterrupted operations.Safety, Quality & Continuous Improvement:Follow applicable EHS, quality, laboratory, chemical-handling, PPE, and waste-management requirements.Safely work with reactive and hazardous chemicals and exercise stop-work responsibility when unsafe conditions are identified.Complete required technical, quality, and safety training.Participate in investigations, troubleshooting, capability studies, Gage R&R activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.Continue developing technical capability through the site's qualification program and support training of others when qualified.Team & Manufacturing Support:Communicate effectively with Production, Quality, Planning, Inventory Control, Logistics, and other functions.Manage changing priorities while maintaining accuracy, attention to detail, and timely completion of testing.Work independently and collaboratively to support a continuous manufacturing environment.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required.One of the following:Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Science, or a related field with hands-on laboratory coursework; orAssociate degree in Chemistry or a related field plus at least two years of laboratory or manufacturing experience; orAt least four years of laboratory technician, quality control, chemical manufacturing, adhesives manufacturing, or comparable technical manufacturing experience.Skills and KnowledgeKnowledge of basic computer applications and mathematics, as well as aptitude for learning SAP and other applicable systems.Ability to read, understand, and accurately complete laboratory, quality, and manufacturing documentation.Ability to safely work with reactive, hazardous, and industrial chemicals.Ability to recognize, communicate, and appropriately escalate quality concerns.Must be willing and able to work any assigned shift, including first, second, third, or weekend shifts.Must be willing and able to work staggered hours, overtime, weekends, holidays, and alternative work schedules based on business needs.Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.Preferred QualificationsExperience in an industrial or manufacturing laboratory.Experience in chemical, adhesive, resin, hardener, composite, or related manufacturing.Experience with industrial adhesive testing, mechanical testing, SAP, or laboratory analytical equipment.Qualification & ProgressionQuality Control Technicians participate in a qualification-based progression program. Advancement is based on demonstrated proficiency, completion of required training and qualifications, sustained satisfactory performance, and applicable program requirements.Technicians are expected to progressively develop the ability to independently perform a broader range of testing, accurately interpret and document results, and identify and escalate quality concerns.Success in This RoleDemonstrate steady progress through required training and qualification requirements.Independently perform assigned laboratory testing safely, accurately, and in accordance with approved methods and specifications.Deliver accurate and timely results that support manufacturing, packaging, and product release decisions.Maintain accurate documentation and consistently follow quality and EHS requirements.Recognize, communicate, and appropriately escalate abnormal or nonconforming results.Effectively prioritize changing testing needs while demonstrating dependable performance, teamwork, and continuous improvement.Work ScheduleThis position supports continuous manufacturing operations. The site currently operates on multiple shifts and may operate on a 24/5 or 24/7 schedule based on business needs.Shift assignments may include first, second, third, or 12-hour weekend schedules. Schedules and assigned hours are subject to change based on operational requirements.Work Environment & Physical RequirementsWork in laboratory and chemical manufacturing environments around reactive, hazardous, and industrial chemicals.Wear required personal protective equipment.Frequently stand, walk, reach, and perform laboratory activities for extended periods.Safely handle samples, laboratory materials, containers, and equipment.Perform detailed work requiring accuracy and care when using analytical instruments and chemicals.Distinguish colors and visual characteristics when required for testing, identification, or labeling.Work in areas where temperature, noise, odors, or other manufacturing conditions may vary.What Can We Offer You?Starting rate for the Quality Control Technician is $35.70 per hour, plus a $2.00 per hour shift differential for eligible hours worked from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.We consider a number of business-related factors when making individual compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training.Qualification-based step progression is available in accordance with Company program requirements.Huntsman offers outstanding benefits which start from Day One.Competitive healthcare, dental, and vision.One additional week of paid time off - on top of vacation.401K – Huntsman automatically contributes 6% of eligible pay, regardless of employee contribution.
