Billing Specialist I

Lines Of Authority: This position is supervised by theBilling Supervisor. Unless specificallydesignated, this position does not supervise any other personnel. Position Summary This is an entry level position in the billingdepartment. The person is responsible forposting all manual and electronic remittances from health plans and resolvedenials for payment. Principal Duties/Responsibilities Post all health plans remittances received throughmail or electronic means through the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Work all denials for resubmission and payment. Generates superbills for vendor transportationvouchers for billing purposes Assist the Billing Specialists II and III asrequested. Provides customer service to internal and externalcustomers and stakeholders. Participates in the Performance ImprovementProcesses in the Clinic. The employee must work well under pressure meetingmultiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines. The employee shall, at all times, demonstratecooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors. Perform other duties, as assigned.

PRIMARYCONTACTS:

Direct contact with clinical personnel and workgroups. Daily contact with supervisor.

POSITIONREQUISITES:

Qualificationsand Experience Required: High School Diploma or GED. One year medical billing experience. Current fingerprint card or the ability toobtain one clear of any restrictions upon hire. Preferred: Word processing and spread sheet experience. Skills/Abilities Required: Ten-key touch. Basic computers, knowledge and familiar withwindow applications/environment. Working Conditions PhysicalRequirements Able to sit for extended periods of time. Frequent reaching and occasional kneeling. Able to key for extended periods. EquipmentOperation PC, phone, fax, AHCCCS Eligibility,calculator, shredder, copier, typewriter, postage scale. EnvironmentalConditions Inside work environment.
