Automotive Damage Appraiser

Appraises vehicle damage to determine cost of repair for insurance and retail claim settlement. Essential duties include examining damaged vehicles to determine the extent of structural, body, mechanical or interior damage. Estimate the cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each damaged item. Determine the feasibility of repair versus replacement of parts, such as bumpers, fenders, and doors. Prepares insurance forms to indicate repair cost estimates and recommendations. Estimate the cost of repainting, converting to special purposes, or customizing undamaged vehicles. Review repair cost estimates with the body shop manager or foreman. Schedule customer appointments. Track daily progress of jobs in process. Assist production manager in processing supplement claims. Prepare detailed supplements for additional parts and labor. Notify the insurance company of any supplement needed. Prepare repair order documents for final invoicing, checking parts, labor, and materials charges. Calculate technician hours and flag timesheets. Complete daily cycle time work sheets. Utilize the DMS system for customer updates and job tracking. Review daily progress of repairs and work with the production manager and customer service representative, updating customers when needed. Notify customers of any old damage found on the vehicle that may not be accident related. Document repair order for mileage on vehicle in and out of shop. Maintain a professional attitude with co-workers, customers, vendors. Follow the dress code the company has put in place. Maintain a clean and neat work area. Keep the area free of debris. Follow federal, state, and local law as well as company policy about safeguarding all information. Report on time to work and follow the schedule that is given. Call the supervisor if you cannot be at work on time. Keep current with annual HR training along with any other training that might be required for this position. Follow all company policies and procedures. Notify the supervisor of any illegal activity.
