Job Description:
Our client is seeking a mid-level Real Estate Finance Associate/Counsel with a minimum of 4+ years of experience to join their team in New York. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in representing institutional lenders in complex real estate finance transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent banks, debt funds and other institutional lenders in real estate finance transactions, including:
- Mortgage and mezzanine loans
- Construction loans
- Loan modifications and workouts
- Draft and negotiate loan documents, intercreditor agreements and related finance documentation
- Review and analysis of due diligence, title/survey/zoning, corporate structure and documentation, and handle the closing
- Coordinate with internal teams, clients and third party vendors
- Work directly with clients and participate in strategy discussions and deal structuring
- Engage with and strengthen relationships with existing clients
- Maintain awareness of legal developments and market trends affecting real estate finance and leasing
Qualifications:
- J. xhyhwjd D. from an ABA accredited law school
- Admitted to practice in New York(additional jurisdictions a plus)
- a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience at a top-tier law firm or boutique focused on sophisticated lender representation
- Strong knowledge of real estate finance laws and practices, as well asmarket standards
- Excellent drafting, communication and negotiation skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Able to manage multiple transactions and deadlines independently
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with syndicated loan structures, intercreditor and co-lender agreements
- Exposure to ground leases, sale-leasebacks, and mixed-use developments
- Familiarity with REITs, opportunity zones or tax-advantaged structures is a plus
