Research Associate/Senior Research Associate, Cell Engineering
Colossal Biosciences
Colossal Biosciences seeks a research associate in cell biology to develop and optimize cell lines from non-model mammals using genome editing and reprogramming technologies. The Dallas-based position involves hands-on laboratory work with primary tissue derivation, gene delivery methods, and quality control assays to support downstream applications.
Responsibilities
- Derive and characterize stable cell lines from primary tissue samples
- Perform microdissection and test novel culture conditions to optimize gene editing
- Expand clonal cell lines for cryopreservation, genotyping, and quality control assays
- Execute experiments, analyze data, and deliver results aligned with project milestones
- Collaborate with team on targeting workflows and prepare project progress reports
Requirements
- BA/BS/MA/MS in biological sciences, bioengineering, molecular biology, genetics, or related field
- Experience deriving primary cell lines, optimizing culture conditions, and cryopreservation
- Proficiency with electroporation and transfection techniques for gene delivery
- Immunostaining expertise for flow cytometry and fluorescent microscopy
- Exceptional aseptic technique with antibiotic-free cell culture
- Strong organizational skills and laboratory record-keeping abilities
