Director, Medical Science Liaison [Remote]

This remote leadership role will oversee a high-performing field medical team supporting innovation across neuroscience and mental health.
You will translate medical strategy into impactful field execution and ensure consistent, high-quality scientific engagement across the Western U.S.
The position combines people leadership, scientific exchange, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration within a growing Medical Affairs organization.
You will coach and develop MSLs while strengthening scientific credibility, accountability, and professional growth across the team.
Field insights gathered through relationships with external experts will help shape medical strategy, clinical development, and educational initiatives.
The role will also contribute to advancing programs addressing treatment-resistant depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, areas of significant unmet need.

Accountabilities:

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing regional MSL team, establishing clear expectations around scientific excellence, compliance, performance, and professional development.
• Build a culture of scientific rigor, collaboration, accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement within the Field Medical organization.
• Translate the broader medical strategy into effective field execution, ensuring consistent and high-quality scientific engagement across assigned territories.
• Oversee territory planning, stakeholder prioritization, and deployment of field medical resources to maximize impact and strengthen relationships with relevant external experts and thought leaders.
• Ensure timely collection, synthesis, and communication of actionable medical insights from the field, using those insights to inform clinical development, medical strategy, and educational planning.
• Maintain awareness of emerging scientific evidence, changes in the treatment landscape, and competitive developments relevant to treatment-resistant depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.
• Support regional and national medical education initiatives, advisory boards, scientific congresses, and other external scientific engagement activities.
• Contribute to the continued development of Medical Affairs processes, training programs, field tools, performance metrics, and operating models as the organization expands.
• Partner closely with Clinical Development, Market Access, Government Affairs, and other cross-functional teams to align field medical activities with organizational priorities.
• Support the strategic growth of neuroscience and mental health programs by strengthening scientific leadership, developing engagement strategies, and fostering productive relationships throughout the external medical community.

Requirements:

• Hold advanced scientific training and an associated credential such as PhD, PharmD, PMHNP, or MD .
• Bring at least 3 years of Medical Science Liaison experience , with a demonstrated track record of effective scientific engagement and field medical execution.
• Have proven experience as a field medical leader with the ability to manage projects, influence stakeholders, and build effective cross-functional relationships.
• Demonstrate experience managing and supporting direct reports, with strong coaching, mentoring, performance-management, and team-development capabilities.
• A background in neuroscience, psychiatry, or psychology is strongly preferred.
• Experience working in pre-commercial or early-launch environments is preferred, particularly within innovative therapies or evolving treatment landscapes.
• Demonstrate strong understanding of scientific communication, medical affairs strategy, external stakeholder engagement, and compliant field medical practices.
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication, active listening, interpersonal, and emotional-intelligence skills.
• Be highly organized, accountable, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, teamwork, and the ability to build credibility with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Be willing and able to travel approximately 50–75% , including overnight travel and occasional weekends as business needs require.
• Show genuine commitment to improving and transforming mental health and strong alignment with a mission-driven, patient-focused approach.
