Mental Health Counselor II (Bilingual Preferred)

Position : Mental Health Counselor II (Bilingual Preferred) Classification : Full-time, Exempt Reports to : Program Coordinator Company : DePelchin Children's Center Location : Houston, TX Position Description : The Mental Health Counselor on the Critical Response Team provides a range of social work and therapeutic services to children and their families to address identified needs and challenges. This role is responsible for conducting intakes and comprehensive assessments, as well as delivering individual and family counseling services. Services are provided across a variety of settings, including in-home, in-office, virtual, and school-based environments, to ensure accessibility and continuity of care. Primary Responsibilities: Provide intake and assessment activities that will assist clients and their family in determining which services are most appropriate for them in developing an individualized service /treatment plan. Utilizing client and family input, develop a plan of service that selects and outlines an array of services and interventions from within DePelchin and the community that will address the needs formulated in the assessment process. Reassess the needs of the child and family every 90 days to modify the service plan. Provide therapeutic and counseling services, utilizing appropriate treatment modalities, with referred families. Assist clients with referrals to other community services identified in the plan of service and provide advocacy for individual clients and their families to receive entitlements or needed services. Maintain current records, meeting all recording requirements of the agency. Maintain monthly statistics and data needed for program accountability and billing for client services. Qualifications Required : Master’s in social work or related human services field. Fully licensed as an LMSW; or Provisionally licensed as an LPC-Associate, or LMFT-Associate. Passed the licensure examination to obtainLMSW, LMFT-Associate, or LPC-Associate. Employment is contingent upon full/provisional lcensure within 90 days of hire. QualificationsPreferred: One (1) years’ experience preferred. Experience in case management, crisis intervention, or child welfare preferred. Bilingual Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Ability to relate well to children and families in crisis. Comfortable with complexity, advocacy, and mediation. Strong ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Good paperwork and organizational skills. Ability to submit all documentation electronically and in the office timely. Knowledge of social work practices. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Ability to work collaboratively with fellow staff and referral sources. Ability to maintain a professional, confidential working environment. Ability to work with culturally diverse populations and work force. Ability to work flexible hours which vary according to client needs. Work Conditions : Environment: Home-based office, Schools, Community/Virtual settings Range of Schedule: Mon -Fri, 7:00 am to 8:00 pm (vary according to client schedule) Travel: Frequent - Must havereliable personal transportation, valid Texas driver license and current auto insurance.
