Supervisory Interdisciplinary Engineer.

Duties Serves as Chief of the Engineering and Contracts Section for a large multiple purpose water resources project under the general supervision of the Operations Project Manager. Plans and coordinates work efforts, assigns responsibilities and tasks to Section employees, reviews work, resolves employee issues, selects new employees, sets performance standards, and evaluates performance. Communicates with the Operations Project Manager, Project supervisors and District managers, public officials and other representatives of Project customers to identify and clarify Project and Section customers and their requirements. Serves as a program manager for the development, direction and execution of several Project programs. Participates with Project supervisors in developing and directing the Recapitalization Program. Serves as manager and facilitator of a program involving several business lines, five different funding sources, a project area 100 miles long, and a multi-million dollar annual budget. Requirements Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Incumbent required to possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license at time of appointment. Incumbent is required to possess and maintain a Professional Engineer (PE) License at time of appointment. Conditions of Employment Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre‑Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. This position requires a 1‑year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. One‑year supervisory probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Interdisciplinary Engineer (0810, 0850, 0830 series) Degree: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in engineering, received from a school accredited by ABET or meeting the specified coursework criteria (e.g., calculus, statics, dynamics, strength of materials, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, etc.). Combination of Education and Experience: College‑level education and/or technical experience that furnishes a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering and a good understanding of engineering sciences and techniques. Adequacy demonstrated by professional registration/licensure, passing a written test required for registration, completion of specified academic courses, or related curriculum leading to a bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least one year of professional engineering experience. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Interdisciplinary Architect (0808 Series) Degree: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in architecture or a related field that includes 60 semester hours of architecture coursework, with at least 30 semester hours in architectural design and 6 semester hours each in structural technology, materials and construction, and environmental control systems. Combination of Education and Experience: College‑level education and/or technical experience that furnishes a thorough knowledge of professional architecture and its applications, demonstrated by related curriculum or at least one year of experience in an architect’s office per year of education below graduation. Selective Placement Factor This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. Specialized Experience One year of specialized experience which includes overseeing operation and maintenance of projects such as hydroelectric power generation, environmental stewardship, navigation, flood damage reduction, and recreation engineering; providing contract administration for power projects; and communicating orally and in writing to coordinate project‑related work and maintain compliance. Only experience satisfies the qualification requirement; substitution with education is not permitted. Higher Education Evaluation Foreign education must be evaluated by a private organization specializing in interpretation of foreign education programs and deemed equivalent to a U.S. accredited program; or full credit must be given for courses at a U.S. accredited college.
