Full‑Time Kennel Assistant (Day Shift) Join PetVet Care Centers' Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center of Thousand Oaks as a Full‑Time Kennel Assistant. You will support veterinarians and technicians with daily tasks such as cleaning and maintaining equipment, feeding, exercising, restraining, and handling pets. Position Overview Supports veterinarians and technicians by cleaning and maintaining equipment; feeding, exercising, restraining and handling pets. Key Responsibilities Provide compassionate care to pets. Feeding animals as prescribed or requested; record appetites, water intake, fecal and urine production. Recognize and report any unusual conditions or abnormal behaviors; monitor pets for signs of distress or disease. Assist veterinarians and technicians with pet restraint. Maintain daily cleanliness of the hospital; clean equipment and facilities using chemicals and supplies; ensure safe chemical use. Follow a regular schedule for cleaning and sanitizing all cages, runs, wards, and related areas; change litter boxes and food/water bowls. Complete the weekly and monthly chore list to maintain hospital cleanliness, equipment, and appearance. Prioritize tasks correctly. Maintain laundry for the kennel and hospital. Provide patients with fresh, clean bedding when appropriate. Walk patients according to schedule. Understand and carry out oral and written directions. Perform other duties as assigned by Manager. Remain professional and courteous to clients and co‑workers while handling multiple tasks at once with many interruptions. Learn and understand our services and health recommendations and communicate these to clients. Handle difficult and/or aggressive patients effectively while ensuring safety of self, the pet, and co‑workers. Perform other duties as assigned by Manager. Qualifications (Required) Veterinary medicine experience OR currently enrolled in a Veterinary Assistant program. Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Previous veterinary medicine experience. $16.90 – $20.66 USD.
