Hospitalist Physician

The Opportunity

Two hospitalists and an APP share roughly 35 patients a day at a 101-bed KPC hospital in the High Desert. No procedures. The ICU is open with intensivist support behind you. Days are 12 hours, with a night call rotation paid separately at $250 a night. For a hospitalist who wants a real census without the 20-patient-per-provider grind, the math here works differently.

What You'll Own

• A shared census of roughly 35 across two hospitalists and an APP.
• Medicine, not procedures. None are required in this role.
• RRT and codes during the day , with intensivist support on an open ICU.
• A night call rotation paid on top at $250 per night rather than folded into base.

Must-Haves

• MD or DO
• Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• California license, or eligibility in process

Nice to Have

• Prior open-ICU co-management experience
• Comfort with a High Desert referral population
• Paragon familiarity

What Working Here Is Actually Like

• $300,000 W-2 base plus a $30,000 productivity bonus .
• $250 per night for night call , paid separately.
• Full W-2 benefits. Medical, dental and vision from the first of the month after hire; employer-paid life at 1x salary up to $300,000; employer-paid long-term disability at 60% of salary; 401(k). The benefit plan year runs 1 October to 30 September.
• Malpractice and tail both covered. Tail is the one people forget to ask about until they leave.
• Paragon with ambient AI dictation the charting burden is genuinely lower than you're used to.

Straight Talk

The call rotation is real and it's nights, even though the line is a day job. It's compensated separately rather than buried in the base, which we think is the honest way to do it but know that it's part of the role before you sign, not a surprise in month two. One practical warning: California does not participate in the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact, so if you are licensing in from another state, start that process now it is the long pole in every California hire we make, and it is the single most common reason a good candidate and a good job miss each other.
