Pharmacy Technician

This Pharmacy Technician position supports a high-volume central fill pharmacy in Everett, WA that supplies patient-level prescriptions for a large national retail chain. Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, you accurately and efficiently fill prescription requests in an automated refill setting, prepare and package medications, and help maintain a continuous workflow to meet daily production goals. You work productively both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating acute attention to detail while performing repetitive tasks in a fast-paced production environment. Responsibilities

• Manually fill prescription vials with prescribed tablets and capsules according to established procedures and safety standards.
• Read computer-generated screens to locate indicated medications on labeled shelves and verify the correct drug, size, and strength for each prescription.
• Perform basic mathematical calculations to count or determine the appropriate number of units needed to accurately fill prescriptions.
• Replenish medications in automated dispensing cells to full capacity, opening and handling large quantities of bottles and cases of product.
• Use handheld scanner units to scan product barcodes and enter expiration dates and lot numbers into the computer application with a high level of accuracy.
• Maintain a strong focus to avoid cross contamination and perform quality assurance checks to identify and remove expired or damaged products.
• Prepare cold chain and specialty prescriptions, following specific requirements for handling, packing, and temperature control.
• Assist with packing and shipping of prescriptions to ensure timely and accurate delivery to patients and retail locations.
• Understand and strictly follow federal and state HIPAA laws and pharmacy standard procedures to protect patient safety and privacy.
• Complete weekly cycle counts as assigned, auditing cell inventory and counting products in primary and secondary bin locations.
• Assist with research and identification of root causes for inventory discrepancies and collaborate on corrective actions as needed.
• Demonstrate effective problem resolution skills by recognizing issues, addressing them promptly, and escalating concerns to management when appropriate.

Essential Skills

• Active Washington State Pharmacy Technician License.
• National pharmacy technician certification (PTCB or ExCPT) required to work in the role longer than six months.
• 0–1 year of experience in a pharmacy production, central fill, or similar high-volume pharmacy environment.
• Experience with prescription refill processes and pharmacy support functions in retail or central fill settings.
• Ability to perform accurate data entry and work with computer-generated prescription screens.
• Basic mathematical skills to count, calculate, and verify quantities for prescription filling.
• Strong attention to detail and focus to prevent cross contamination and medication errors.
• Understanding of and ability to comply with federal and state HIPAA regulations and standard pharmacy procedures.
• Demonstrated problem resolution skills, including recognizing issues, addressing them, and escalating to management when necessary.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks efficiently while maintaining accuracy and productivity in a fast-paced environment.
• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Pharmacy technician certification from PTCB or ExCPT, demonstrating national-level competency.
• Experience in retail pharmacy, central fill pharmacy, or healthcare supply chain environments.
• Familiarity with automated dispensing equipment and high-volume pick, pack, and ship operations.
• Comfort using handheld scanning devices and pharmacy-related computer applications.
• Strong commitment to patient safety, privacy, and quality assurance practices.

Work Environment

This role is based in a central fill pharmacy facility in Everett, WA with a fast-paced, high-volume pick, pack, and ship atmosphere. The position follows an evening/swing shift schedule: Monday through Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You must be available for mandatory overtime, which is regularly up to 1 hour per shift and may occasionally extend to 2 hours following major U.S. holidays. The environment is team-oriented with a strong safety-first attitude, utilizing automated dispensing cells, handheld barcode scanners, and computer-based applications to manage prescriptions and inventory. You work on your feet and handle large quantities of medication bottles and cases while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA and pharmacy procedures. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
