General Science Teacher for Grades 7–8, with Biology
The Rome City School District is seeking a dynamic and student-centered General Science Teacher for grades 7–8, with Biology. Key Responsibilities:
Design and deliver engaging lessons in General Science and Biology aligned with New York State Learning Standards.
Foster a positive, inquiry-based classroom culture that supports critical thinking and scientific literacy.
Use differentiated instruction and hands-on learning experiences to meet the diverse needs of students.
Integrate topics such as life systems, ecology, human biology, cell biology, and the scientific method in a developmentally appropriate way.
Assess student understanding through varied formative and summative assessments.
Collaborate with colleagues, including special education and support staff, to promote academic success in inclusive settings.
Maintain regular communication with families and participate in parent conferences, team meetings, and school events.
Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance instructional practices and curriculum implementation.
Qualifications:
Must possess a valid New York State General Science 7–12 Teaching Certification.
Biology Certification or extension preferred.
Strong content knowledge in biology and general science at the middle school level.
Experience with differentiated instruction, student-centered learning, and classroom management.
Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all students.
Effective communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
