Shipping Clerk - Domestic & Internation

Position Summary

WGI MRO Services is seeking an experienced Shipping Clerk to support domestic and international shipments within our aerospace MRO operation.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience processing international shipments through FedEx and DHL , as well as domestic shipments using UPS, FedEx, and other freight and parcel carriers . This position is responsible for ensuring customer orders, repaired aerospace components, and other materials are packaged, documented, and shipped accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with customer, carrier, regulatory, and company requirements.

Strong attention to detail is essential, particularly when preparing international shipping documentation and handling high-value customer-owned aerospace components.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

International Shipping

• Process international shipments using FedEx and DHL shipping systems and portals .
• Prepare and verify international shipping documentation, including:
• Commercial invoices
• Packing lists
• Air waybills
• Certificates and supporting shipment documentation
• Country-of-origin information
• Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications when provided or applicable
• Export-related documentation
• Verify consignee, ship-to, billing, and freight-forwarder information prior to shipment.
• Coordinate international shipments with customers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers as required.
• Ensure international documentation is complete and accurate to minimize customs delays, rejected shipments, and additional fees.
• Track international shipments and assist with resolving customs holds, documentation requests, or delivery issues.
• Maintain appropriate shipping records for international transactions.
• Escalate potential export-control or regulatory concerns to the appropriate responsible personnel before shipment.

Domestic Shipping

• Process domestic shipments through UPS, FedEx, DHL, LTL freight carriers, couriers, and other transportation providers .
• Determine appropriate shipping methods based on customer instructions, delivery requirements, cost, package size, and urgency.
• Generate shipping labels, bills of lading, packing slips, and other required documentation.
• Coordinate expedited, overnight, priority, and time-critical shipments.
• Schedule carrier pickups and coordinate LTL and other freight shipments.
• Track shipments and investigate lost, delayed, or damaged deliveries.
• Verify customer-specific routing and carrier-account requirements prior to shipment.

Aerospace Component Packaging & Handling

• Package repaired aerospace components to prevent damage during transportation.
• Ensure customer-owned components are properly identified and protected throughout the shipping process.
• Follow applicable customer and WGI packaging requirements.
• Verify part numbers, serial numbers, quantities, purchase order information, and shipping documentation prior to shipment.
• Ensure sensitive, precision-machined, coated, or repaired components receive appropriate protective packaging.
• Identify and report damaged or improperly packaged material prior to shipment.
• Maintain proper segregation and control of customer material.

Shipping Documentation & Accuracy

• Review shipment documentation for completeness before material leaves the facility.
• Verify that required paperwork accompanies each shipment, including applicable:
• Packing slips
• Certificates of Conformance
• FAA/EASA or other authorized release documentation when required
• Customer-required documentation
• Repair documentation
• Commercial invoices
• Shipping labels
• Work closely with Quality to ensure required release documentation is present before shipment.
• Ensure no aerospace component is shipped without the required Quality and documentation approvals.
• Maintain accurate electronic and physical shipping records.
• Scan and archive shipment documentation as required.

Customer Service & Internal Coordination

• Work closely with Customer Service, Quality, Production, and Operations to support daily shipment requirements.
• Communicate shipment status, tracking information, delays, and documentation issues to appropriate personnel.
• Prioritize shipments based on customer commitments and operational requirements.
• Support customer expedite requests and AOG/time-critical shipments when required.
• Assist Customer Service with proof-of-delivery and shipment-tracking requests.
• Proactively identify issues that could prevent an on-time shipment and communicate them before the scheduled ship date.

Receiving & General Shipping Support

• Assist with receiving and material movement when required.
• Verify incoming and outgoing packages against appropriate documentation.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe shipping area.
• Maintain adequate inventory of shipping supplies, boxes, protective materials, labels, and related materials.
• Coordinate with carriers regarding pickup schedules and shipping requirements.
• Assist with customer returns and non-repairable component shipments.
• Perform additional Shipping and Operations duties as required.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of shipping experience , preferably within aerospace, aviation, manufacturing, MRO, or another regulated industry.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with FedEx international shipping .
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with DHL international shipping .
• Experience processing domestic shipments using UPS and FedEx .
• Experience working with LTL freight and other domestic carriers preferred.
• Working knowledge of international commercial invoices and shipping documentation.
• Experience coordinating shipments with freight forwarders and customs brokers.
• Strong computer skills and ability to work with carrier websites, shipping software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with multiple departments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous aerospace or FAA Part 145 Repair Station experience .
• Experience shipping aircraft engine components or other high-value aerospace products.
• Familiarity with international customs and export documentation.
• Familiarity with HTS classifications, country-of-origin requirements, and export-controlled material.
• Experience working with freight forwarders and customs brokers.
• Familiarity with customer-specific aerospace packaging and shipping requirements.
• Experience with AOG or other time-critical aerospace shipments.
• ERP/MRP system experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and move throughout the Shipping area for extended periods.
• Ability to safely lift and move packages consistent with company safety requirements.
• Ability to package and handle aerospace components of varying sizes and weights.
• Ability to use computers, shipping stations, scales, printers, scanners, and material-handling equipment as required.

Position Expectations

The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable taking ownership of domestic and international shipments from preparation through delivery .

Because WGI MRO Services handles customer-owned aerospace components, accuracy and accountability are critical. The Shipping Clerk is expected to recognize that an incorrect address, missing customs document, inaccurate part or serial number, or missing certification can result in shipment delays, customer dissatisfaction, and significant operational impact.
