Position Description The Alcon R&D team is looking for numerous talented and motivated Engineers to join our Envision R&D Rotational Program in January or July 2027 at our Lake Forest, CA / Fort Worth, TX locations. Members will gain industry experience and network with Alcon professionals, have the chance to make a real-world impact by working on projects that help patients and customers see brilliantly, and access personal and professional development, high visibility, and coaching and mentoring opportunities. We are looking to fill Envision Track 2 positions with December 2026 or May/June 2027 graduates from the following engineering majors: Data Analytics, Computer Science / Engineering, Software, Information Technology, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Vision Science, Computational Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Information Security and Systems Engineering or related major. As an Envision Rotational Member at Alcon, you rotate 3 times, every 12 months, and may be placed into the following teams: Teams and Rotations Instrumentation R&D – Lake Forest, CA – Develop an understanding of the software development process per Alcon SOPs used for medical device development. Gain knowledge of the rigor required for equipment and software development; participate in product development lifecycle including requirements refinement, risk evaluations, testing, software development, troubleshooting, and project tracking; collaborate with various teams to understand diverse roles involved in product development; turn classroom training into real-life solutions to expand knowledge and capabilities specific to medical device instrumentation. Medical Digital Solutions (MDS) – Fort Worth, TX / Lake Forest, CA – Algorithm development and deployment, code writing and documentation, cloud environment navigation and management; create effective data management and storage techniques for faster access to data; collate and pre-process multiple data sources to enable AI prediction models to be created, tested, and validated; determine and recommend which machine learning models and digital solution approaches to pursue; analyze video data to understand factors influencing annotation; perform literature review to support algorithm development; organize clinical data for investigation; develop computer vision and deep learning algorithms using clinical videos; develop deep learning models to align patient eye images; develop bench setups to test algorithms; implement and present results to scientific and non-scientific audiences; develop and integrate product security processes, technologies/tools, and control implementation into Alcon products and digital solutions. R&D Clinical Applications – Fort Worth, TX – Learn and understand next-generation system data output; develop tools to collect and analyze system data; collect clinical surgery parameters and bench study parameters; compare collected data with clinical parameters and document differences; review clinical study reports and develop analysis plans to explore relationships between variables; draft summary reports; project management and process improvement. Minimum Qualifications Must be pursuing a Bachelor degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science / Engineering, Software, Information Technology, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Vision Science, Computational Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Information Security and Systems Engineering or related major. Must graduate December 2026 (for January 2027 start date) or May/June 2027 (for July 2027 start date). Academic performance: Minimum cumulative GPA 2.8/4.0 Demonstrated leadership skills (i.e. extracurricular activities or projects) Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis. Students on an F1 visa with CPT work authorization may be accommodated. Ability to commit to a 3-year, full-time (40 hrs. per week) rotational program in Lake Forest, CA / Fort Worth, TX locations. Preferred Qualifications Pursuing an advanced degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science / Engineering, Software, Information Technology, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Vision Science, Computational Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Information Security and Systems Engineering or related major.
