Machinist

A machinist is a skilled worker who operates machinery to create or modify metal parts used in manufacturing processes. They read and interpret blueprints, set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders, and use precision measuring instruments to ensure parts meet specifications. Machinists may also perform routine maintenance on machines, troubleshoot issues, and make adjustments as needed. Follows established work procedures for fabricating and/or repairing large rock crushing and structural equipment. Plans maintenance and repair schedule. Repairs to equipment parts specifically for aggregate equipment used in mining, construction or quarrying.

• Fabricating and/or repairing large rock crushing and structural equipment. • Plans machining by work orders, blue prints, engineering plans, materials or other specifications. • Programs, sets up and adjusts mills and lathes and many advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations. May load, feed, align and secure mechanism with an overhead crane. • Visually observes and listens to operating machines and equipment to diagnose malfunctions and ensure operational efficiency. May prepare work sketches and design fixtures, tooling and experimental parts to meet needs. • Working closely with engineers, supervisors, and other team members to optimize machining processes, resolve issues, and ensure smooth workflow. • Maintains safe operations by adhering to all safety regulations and procedures.

• Attention to Detail - Ability to thoroughly and accurately complete tasks; meticulous and precise when handling information, and is critical in ensuring the quality, accuracy, and integrity of the results. • Analytical Thinking - Ability to break down complex problems, situations, in order to understand underlying patterns, identify key issues; examine information logically, question assumptions, and draw conclusions based on evidence. • Communication - Communicates clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, while actively listening and adapting the message to the audience. • Health, Safety and Environmental Management - Implements and uphold policies and practices that ensure workplace safety, promote employee well-being, and minimize environmental impact. This includes regulatory compliance, risk assessment & mitigation, workplace safety culture, incident response & prevention, sustainability & environmental stewardship and training & engagement. • Planning and Scheduling - Effective planning of repair procedures, scheduling work considering resource availability, and maintaining necessary inventory. • Reliability and Punctuality - Dependable and consistent in meeting work expectations and deadlines. Demonstrates commitment and follow-through, with reliable performance and attendance.

• High School Diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of training and work experience. • Vocational training, apprenticeship, or relevant work experience in machining, with a focus on heavy machinery or aggregate equipment, is often preferred. • Acceptable performance, maintenance and safety history • Knowledge of mine operations equipment • Must be able to machine parts to dimensional specifications from blueprints and hand drawings. • Proficiency in operating and setting up equipment. • Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail. • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. • Commitment to workplace safety practices and protocols. • Communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration.
